You can make offline backups of your games (via right-clicking on them), so I'd imagine you'd be able to plop those backups on your new machine.

Yes. Two ways. First was already mentioned. The second is to copy the entire Steam directory and then reinstall Steam on top of it. I personally keep my Steam directory on its own hard drive; it takes up 113GB.

So today I move out of my dorm room, say goodbye to all of my friends for at least a year each (one's going to England for six, one failed out of college, two are going to community college for a year, one's transferring to another school, one graduated, and one is moving off-campus for next semester). One of them is in the middle of an emotional breakdown because of family issues, and I get to help with that (I'm not complaining about that part). I'm going home to a family that can't support me living there, I have no job, in this market the odds of me getting a job are low, and I can't afford any further semesters of college without a job.

Happy birthday to me.

EDIT: I suppose I could be greatful that nothing's making me freak the **** out lately. Does that count as a birthday present?

I received a letter from the university I applied to earlier this year. They have rejected my application. As disappointing as it is, it wasn't completely unexpected.

The good thing is that I still have two years of National Service in front of me. If I still want to join the army of teachers in Singapore at the end of the two years, I'll take up relief teaching until they start accepting applications again.

In the meantime...

Well if you're still keen on uni, you should think about coming down here after your 2 years. There are some harder unis to get into, depending on the course but for the most part I'm almost 100% sure you'll be able to find yourself a uni if you take a look.

Anyway, just got back from an indoor soccer game. Lost by 4 goals, aaargh! Given that it was after a cross country run in which I came 13th in my age group in (which I'm happy with, since I've done **** all running), it's almost passable.

Ah, thanks for that. Never would have found that function if I hadn't specifically been looking for it... actually the command in the right-click list was greyed-out for some reason, but under "Properties" the option still exists.

Much faster. Now my games are only taking a couple of hours to transfer and install.

Just a few more tweaks and this system should be fully up-and-running.

Specs are:

2TB HDD
8GB RAM
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz (Quad-core)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 (x2, 4GB dedicated video RAM)
2 DVD-RW Writer/Reader drives, one of them also a Blu-Ray player
Built-in Wireless N Adapter (which for some reason is connecting to my N-capable router using G, can't figure out why)

Never got the hang of indoor soccer... For some reason it's more fatiguing for me than outdoor soccer.

I find that as well, which is why I like it. It's a fast game and it tires you out like anything, but it's also fun as hell.
