Just sewed on a button for the first time. Results are satisfactory, although there were a number of false starts, such as losing the needle

(found it, though!) and then the thread

(never found that, though, had to get more from the spool), then figuring out how many knots were needed to keep the needle from falling off while still being able to get the needle through, but hey, all's well that ends well, right?

Today I had a good long chat with my friend who was in the accident. He's fine physically and seems to be doing okay, and I no longer hate myself.

Achievement Get! : ESCAPE FROM DOWNWARD FUNK

I guess that an unusually stressful four days, plus the guilt from lacking of any real response to the crash ended up with all the negative feelings being directed inwards towards myself in a way I've not felt since school.

Tomorrow we both are going to rock Xbox 360 and catch up like we did years ago, though I did find out today that he's nailing his 'Almost' step-cousin. Anyone have any ideas on how that stands in UK law?

I would forget about emotions in your response. You don't control your emotions.

What matters is what you do, and you went to see your friend and see he was okay, so that sounds good enough to me.

Uh, define "almost". There shouldn't be a problem if there's no blood involved. But even then I'd be surprised, I don't think there's anything against cousins, but don't quote me on that. I think it would come up under incest laws if you tried googling that.

Made me smile. I can sew buttons on quite easily now, but had some initial problems when first doing it.

Her mum is his uncle's partner, so she's like a pseudo stepdaughter. I know that the consanguinity laws forbid direct blood relations and even relations between step siblings/children, but cousins is where the law gets fuzzied.

Wasn't a very strong impact as far as CME's go, so we'll probably just get some moderate storming. Could be some stronger stuff as we through the tail of it though.

Accuweather's reporting referred to what was expected from the initial observations of the CME and solar flare. Now that the CME has arrived, we know that it wasn't as strong as we thought.
