Finished Silent Hill 2.
Very good game, for the most part. Atmosphere was incredible, and the puzzles were usually pretty good (though that trash chute was ****ing unintuitive).
One thing was really missing though: the fear factor. I had heard that this game was an incredible horror game. And it's impressive, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't call it "scary". "Mildly creepy" maybe.
I just find it a little hard to be at all scared when all the enemies (including Mr. Mascot of Terror himself, Pyramid Head) are slower than frozen molasses and most (save ol' PH) go down in two blasts of a shotgun (for which ammo was more than plentiful). There needs to be an actual threat there somewhere. And there wasn't. Ever. Hell, I even cranked up the combat difficulty as high as it would go. Still no threat.
I'm harping on that a bit, I'll admit. But that's because I love a good horror game, and I was expecting greatness in that area. Perhaps my expectations were set too high. As I said, on the whole it's an excellent game and I would happily recommend it.
