Nakura, you are aware that even state colleges are technically institutions independent of the government, right? They are private premises that can do what they please, despite being publicly-funded.
Putting up security cameras on a college campus and requiring sign-in to use computer resources is not nanny-statism, nor signs of a surveillance state. Put down the Fox News pipe

1. I never said it had anything to do with government. In fact, I said that
society is moving quickly in that direction.
2. It is certainly telling that we can't go anywhere or do anything without big brother watching over our shoulder.
3. I go to a community college, which, in the United States, is almost entirely funded by the state, local and federal government.
4. If any organization receives funding from any level of government, those funds cannot be used to violate the Constitution.
5. I never said that these policies violated the Constitution, merely that they're annoying as hell, will hurt students and are draconian in nature.
