Got my first mechanical keyboard.  Cherry MX Blue from Monoprice.  Simple, inexpensive, but sturdy US construction.  Great for typing, coding, writing, whatever.  Miss some of the features of my G510s when gaming, though.  I'll have to figure out a way to switch between them more easily.

I'm on sick leave for the third week in a row, because of a nasty tonsillitis. It's so bad the specialist took three seconds, literally, before he just went and handed me a sugery appointment to get them the hell removed.

So many joy, much infection, wow.

On the plus side, once they're out, you have a medical justification to gorge on ice cream.

Just don't use any anaesthetic drugs before going to the hospital. My friend did that and he had to be longer under observation because the wound wouldn't heal as quickly as anticipated. Well, the fact that he got wasted 3 days before going into surgery and using the drugs to help in his hangover probably didn't help as well.

Twiddling my thumbs waiting for my income tax refund to come in - I'm passing my high-mileage car to my parents (who don't drive highway/long distances as much, live in a rural area, and whose even higher-mileage car is held together by rust and hope) and replacing it with something from likely a similar year but with 100-150 thousand kilometers fewer on the odometer, and the whole process is on hold waiting for the CRA to get it's act together.

It's coming up on 6 weeks since I filed, and I've got most of my research done, a short list of cars located, and plans in place - and I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs.

They claim a 4-6 week turnaround time for mailed in returns, which I had to do due to my address changing.

Yes, I realize I'm just being impatient.

I share a Toyota Tacoma (2000) with my old manthat has some 200,000+ miles between the two of us, and it runs like a charm. Except the transmission gets shot whenever the weather reaches freezes temperatures.

Honestly, my parents would keep on driving that Sebring - it's still startlingly reliable even in winter, but it's rusting out and the suspension/steering is totally shot. And they really don't have the funds to patch it back up.

The car I'm passing to them has nearly as many kilometers and a few problems of it's own, but it's not nearly as rough.

The bulk of my driving nowadays consists of trips to the train station and grocery store (5-10 minutes tops) or nearly weekly 100 km+ (each way) trips to see family on major 6-lane highways, as both my parents and my girlfriends parents live in a rural area with no transit of any type. For the shorter trips and rural 2-lane highways my old car is fine, but it's getting a bit nerve-wracking to do the major highways with it.

My dad managed to put over 200k miles on an '87 Ford Taurus station wagon, which by most accounts is a minor miracle.  Original engine and transmission, too.

We're at over 170k miles on our '01 Pontiac Firebird.  Total work done:

Regular oil changes and tire changes/rotations
Battery change or two
Switched out Formula trim hood for Trans-Am trim hood with Ram-Air
Performance exhaust
Ball joints
Water pump
Replace power steering fluid

Still has original spark plugs and everything else.  We suspect the previous owner replaced the ECU because the top speed was higher than it should be.  Still runs beautifully.  Can overtake on the highway like nothing else.

Got fired yesterday, and my depression disappeared the moment I heard "We're terminating your apprenticeship with Andrews Sykes."
That job was well on it's way to making me do something markedly dangerous to myself with how I've been treated by the management and Directors.

The reason was because I wasn't bringing in money, despite the fact that I had next to no training and got dumped into a job that even someone with 10+ years experience on me finds almost impossible to do while still meeting targets set by the management.

My happiness levels are over 9000, and now i'm moving up my plans to join the met police.

The phoenix is obviously not original, but the photo that he chose for me lacked a defined interior (it was mostly just colours blending from one to the other) so I cleaned it up (as requested)

The cityscape is that of where we live with the three more iconic features included and an eruption of fire that'll serve as a background

Currently trying to figure out the birds aura and how to blend the city into the rest of the tat

...So I called the CRA yesterday.

Apparently they have no way to confirm if the tax center even received my filing until it's reviewed and posted.

It hasn't been reviewed and posted.

Tomorrow will be 6 weeks since filing.

Their only recommendations were
1) Re-mail it again, marked Duplicate. Wait another 4-6 weeks
2) Change my address and direct deposit info (The reason I filed by mail, you can't using NetFile) over the phone and then NetFile. Wait 8-16 days.
