Re: Whatever happens in your life
Battle of Leyte Gulf, WWII. Specifically, Taffy-3 vs. Central Group. I just watched a documentary about it in US Military History. Holy crap.

One destroyer pretty much charged a 23 ship Japanese battle group, and took out 2 cruisers. Then later, a destroyer escort took out another cruiser.

Seriously. The Japanese tonnage for a single ship (Yamato) was more than the combined tonnage for all US ships in Taffy-3. Sure, Taffy-3 lost about twice the amount of ships as Central Group, but given the fact that taffy-3 was both outnumbered, outgunned, and ill-equipped,  they did a lot of damage. They ended up forcing the Central group to pull out.

Re: Whatever happens in your life
I am finally getting a decent grasp of ELF format files to disassemble with my disassembler.  Which is good, because the biggest kind of headache I'd been having is the input to the program and how to handle it.

Also trying to sign up for next semester's classes, and having a hell of a time doing that... soooo many scheduling conflicts. :(

In other words, typical end-of-term stuff (the disassembler is my big project for CS). It makes me tired. :o

I need to figure out a widget, so I can get an honors credit from my Marketing 1001 class. It's due in about 9 weeks, so I need to figure out a product and how to market it. I was thinking of marketing "bare" motherboards or something.

... Deja vu. I just played that mission in Heroes of the Pacific.

I'm feeling like crap atm. No idea why.

Boystrous 19 year old temp at work slapped me in the face with an envelope and laughed it off as playful. So I shoved him over a desk and laughed it off as playful. It's on camera so I can plead reasonable force.  Temp is now passive.

Re: Whatever happens in your life
The entirety of my state's unemployment office doesn't have enough workers to handle the massive influx of calls that the EUC (Emergency Unemployment Compensation) plan Congress recently enacted; calls are being disconnected, heck the phone line circuits are maxed out from opening till closing.

You'd think a viable solution to this problem would be that the unemployment office would hire more people directly from the unemployment pool to countermand this, wouldn't you? But that'd be too logical of a solution.

Re: Whatever happens in your life
i'm on the verge of laughing my ass off.

cleaned out the pc yesterday, added another fan, rearranged the wires for max airflow and such, and thanks to it being almost freezing in my room... PC's temps..

CPU: 22°C
ambient temp: around 30-ish°C (inside the case, outside, i'd be amazed if it were more than 10°C in my room...)
graphics card: 41°C but i think that its reporting it incorrectly, since its always around that temp when inactive apparently...
HDD1: 26°C
HDD2: 22°C

the cpu is a OC-ed phenom 9500 (stock 2.2GHz, OC-ed to 2.4), on a ECS A770M-A mobo, with a ECS 9600GT(stock settings, i'm not OC-ing it...) and the HDD's are one 320GB Hitachi and one 320GB Seagate. Seagates are weirdly silent and cool.

normal temps?
CPU: 35-ish
ambient: 45-ish
GPU: 45-ish
HDD1: 37
HDD2: 27
