Re: Whatever happens in your life
New computer purchased. It will be usable in about three days, pending the arrival of a few components. The specs are better than I could have hoped:

  • Intel® Core™2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz 6MB Cache
  • Asus P5Q Motherboard, Intel P45 Chipset
  • 2GB ( 1024MB X 2 ) Kingston PC2-6400 DDR2 800MHz
  • Seagate 1000GB 32MB SATA II Hard Drive
  • eVGA Geforce 9800 GT

All I need is the video card and a stick of extra RAM, and then I'm set.

Boystrous 19 year old temp at work slapped me in the face with an envelope and laughed it off as playful. So I shoved him over a desk and laughed it off as playful. It's on camera so I can plead reasonable force.  Temp is now passive.

Re: Whatever happens in your life
I didn't bother with SimCity 4 after I couldn't get Rush Hour to work properly. It kept giving me an error on Graphics Rules.sgr (IIRC that's the right file name), and following instructions to fix it didn't work.

Have you heard of the Legalized Gambling/one road tile trick, Bob-san?
I've used legalized gambling, but no I've not heard of that trick. I prefer not to know about the cheats in a sandbox Sim games. They're more fun that way--especially since there's not an ultimate goal other then doing better.

And Rick, why only 2GB DDR2 800? 2GB more would only be a few dollars.

Did he enjoy climbing?

Yes he did, actually. So it's a fitting place for him to rest at the foot of a place he liked so much.

Spilled milk over my laptop keyboard... heard the fritz of death. Big shout out to Dell who are sending out new parts and a technician this afternoon.

It's good that he had something. It's sort of a lesson I guess. You never know when you're going to die, so you should enjoy what time, and the people you've got. It's something I've been thinking of a lot lately. I'm so sorry you lost your colleague.

Re: Whatever happens in your life
A work colleague of mine was killed after falling from Mount Cook in New Zealand. He was a good man. He will be remembered. :(

Damn, sorry to hear that. My condolences to the family as well.

On another note...

Back at work after Small Christmas weekend, it was a nice party but instead of drinking too much I ate too much. But man it was some delicious sushi, and of course brilliant sake.
And I think our clients enjoyed it aswell... especially three of them who began planning to start a new company after drinking anything that came to the table.

Bloody 'ell they were wasted.
Habeeb it...

That's the third death in a month. My condolences, Darius. :blah:

My Internet connection problems have been resolved, and I shall be getting the old family PC in my room tomorrow if everything turns out all right.

Now trying to figure out how to make BitTorrent work on my MacBook.

I just lost the game.

OTher than that, insomnia and probably fighting off a stomach bug as well. It's dawn here in Florida, so it's almost time for me to hoof it over to the grocery store and grab probably a half a gallon of milk, at least a loaf of french/italian bread (more like a water-dough bread), and some other odds and ends. I need to watch what I eat big-time now. I'm only going to be in Florida for a few more days, but I really need to start watching my diet. I'm not putting on enough pounds, which is bad.

Re: Whatever happens in your life
I gave up on BitTorrent and managed to get Vuze running properly on my MacBook. Download rate is garbage, but that might be because Adium is running at the same time as well.

more **** happens.

1. got my new apartment
2. got a cell phone
3. still waiting on some internet (im stealing this from the new neibors)
4. got permanently bounced from one of my favorite bars (when she put her pink in my face i thought that was an offer)
5. cut my hair (it was pissing me off so i took a ginsu to it and gave it to the cancer kids so that they can at least die with awesome hair)

i feel oddly more civilized now

If you don't drink, you won't. ;)

I've shifted one of my family PCs into my room, which means that I now have a MacBook and a Windows desktop less than a metre away from each other. :D
