I don't know why the hell I decided to submit myself to this torture, but.... my current shmup goal: beat Subterranean Animism's Extra stage.

I can barely make it past the stage! Let alone fight the boss!

Seriously: in most Touhou games, some improvisation is doable. Not so here. Your run has to be perfect, you have to be in exactly the right place at the right time, or all your lives are gone in ten seconds. Survival in some areas even seems to depend on how powerful your shots are (it isn't rare if a shmup becomes more difficult in this case, it is rare if it becomes impossible), and your bombs drain power from your shots, so the moral here is: don't bomb. Ever.
