Re: Whatever Happens In Your Life - Reality Has Left the Building

Grabbing about a gig of PERFECTLY LEGAL music for my plane ride to alaska. Gonna be 16 hours from when our plane leaves to when we actually arrive there. Frikking layovers.

the routes here kinda suck. especially here where i got to take a puddle jumper to one of the hubs before i can go anywhere. its a ****tly little 737 with a cargo hold taking up the first half of the plane and the tail end for passengers. its kind of a fun flight though, usually all small town folks who talk to eachother the whole flight, even 4 aisles down. fishing and hunting stories mostly. i couldnt help but toss in a few of mine. i ended up stuck at the juneau airport for 9 hours that last time. it was under construction and didnt have a pub or any food other than a vending machine. it was horrible. finally got on that plane and was home 20 minutes later. you might see one parked in juneau, but you probably wont be on one.

downloading music isnt as illegal as it used to be. most people get their music through downloads these days. sometimes paying by song, by album, or by subscription. i dont like those services because they have piss poor selection of the stuff i listen too. i think i got to that age where i stop listening to new music. im lucky if i can find 4 new albums a year that i want to listen too. last thing i downloaded was the complete works of motorhead '77-'07, and i still havent listened to any of it, except the albums i already own.

That's kindof my problem. I listen to a lot of power metal, which isn't a particularily popular genre, so most music services don't have it aside from iTunes, which is EVIIIIL. I also listen a lot of techno, and the chances of finding the right mix of any given song are a million to one. And then classic rock, which means most of the bands aren't around anymore.
Sig nuked! New one coming soon!

For Electronic music, use Skyshare or Ligamusic. They'll likely have what you're looking for, all of the 1,500 or so Trance songs I have are from one of these two.

power metal is still an order of magnitude more popular than black or death metal. but i hate looking in the pop/rock section for a copy of darkthrone's 'a blaze in the northern sky', one of the most kvlt albums in all of black metal. it is neither pop nor rock, and doesnt belong amongst that crap. classic rock is so easy to get for practically free. ive been known to go as far as ripping a tape i found at a garage sale or thrift store and converting it to mp3. some stuff is so rare you have to pirate it because no one sells it.

the man has a point. i kinda wish they would modernize the format though, go with a mini dvd instead. if they could make a portable cd player the size of an ipod, with a format that you could buy music on, id probibly own one.

Re: Whatever Happens In Your Life - Reality Has Left the Building
i still have an ipod and a digital library on my computer, but 95% of it is ripped straight from the CD in lossless format.  download would be fine if it was a lossless format instead of MP3 or whatever apple's proprietary format is they like to use.  i personally still would buy CDs though.  jewel cases, physical cover art and liner notes are all part of the package.  and a good CD collection is something to be proud of :)

god i'm gonna be with CDs like my dad is now with vinyl.

Re: Whatever Happens In Your Life - Reality Has Left the Building
i actually thought about buying a couple albums on vinyl. the stereo i picked up to use as a set of computer speakers came with a turn table which looks like its never been used. thought about getting a few of the black metal classics on vinyl. classics which i still listen to. but the prices are horrific.

We had to sell our record player a while back, but we still have all the vinyls.

I prefer CDs too, if only for the cool books that they come with.

Re: Whatever Happens In Your Life - Reality Has Left the Building
i already hate 99.999% of music. there is that 0.001% that i do like, and i hardly ever listen to that anymore. lets just say i have a soft spot for old skool technology, like 8 tracks and amplifiers from the 60s. if i could get a blaze in the northern sky on 8 track, that would be awesome!

Re: Whatever Happens In Your Life - Reality Has Left the Building
I went to school this afternoon to submit an assigment that was due at 5 PM. I got there two hours before the deadline was due and submitted it with no fuss.

Then I went to the nearest canteen and - once again, against my better sense of judgement - ate a footlong Subway meal. I decided to try out the Chilli Crab edition. It was unimpressive; not enough meat. A normal footlong meal would leave me struggling to stay alive, but today, I downed the meal with no problems.
