A fancy chassis and 1-year basic service plan are not worth $300 to me. Instead, include a $50 chassis (Antec Three Hundred, perhaps). And, if you're expecting a great gaming experience, it won't be yours because you spent $1000 for an Alienware logo and LEDs instead of $800 on a Dell or HP tower with better specs or $700 building it yourself with a more sensible part selection process.

$0 for 4GB RAM instead

Et cetera. And remember that companies like Dell and HP get massive discounts on OS licenses and motherboards. What would cost you or me $100 costs them more like $75. And on OS's, I wouldn't be surprised if they paid $50.

Hey, let's add in the bit about the fact that the last five games I bought were actually six to seven years old anyway, so the new computer is completely superfluous.  Or let's talk about the other hundred-and-twenty things that I considered before setting out to buy a new computer.  I don't know why you seem to have such a huge stick up your ass about the computer I bought for myself, with my money, but ... oh, hey, I've addressed this already....

If you don't want to buy one, that's just fine, but if you've got a problem with my purchase, you can stick it up your ass, because the criticism of anonymous-dick-on-the-net factors into my decision a whole lot less heavily than a history of positive experience with the manufacturer.

I do homebuild my PCs and I love doing it, and I can say that Bob-san's approach here makes me want to stop doing that and buy everything from Alienware. Being a massive tool is never a good persuasive strategy; something more along the lines of 'Have you thought about homebuild?' would probably have been a better opening.

The pony part is probably not that expensive, its shacking the pony up in a barn, feeding, maintenance and vet bills thats the real killer.  It's ridiculously expensive to own a horse.  If you're really interested I'd see if there is a local farm that does lessons for a reasonable price.

I think that means my graphics card is overheating. What's unusual is that this time I'm not doing anything graphics-intensive...
