Rapier and severed head tonight. It acts similar to the swinging and subterfuge qualities of the cloak but also with more impact damage since you can swing it by the hair and has mass. It was actually surprisingly effective, unfortunately the assistant instructor kept up a litany of incredibly lame puns about heads that detracted from the seriousness of the action. It was the last night of the section so we got to utilize anything from the entire system so we pretty much sparred for an hour. As much as I generally deride fencing style swordplay as not a combat practical system it is pretty fun and when used in the context of what it was designed for, duels and crime, its an very effective art.

Additionally I got picked up as a backup Kendo instructor for the school I attend for historic weapons and Kendo. There current assistant instructors are going to be a way for half a year at Guard boot camp sot they needed someone to fill in and I fit the bill. So if our regular instructor is out I will run the class. It also means I will need to go to their staff meetings after class on Wendsday nights whose content 90% of the time doesn't really effect me in the slightest. On the plus side is afterward my historic weapons and Kendo instructors hold an informal training period for an hour and a half to work on stuff for the curriculum. Right now they are putting together a program for Jogo do Pau. Jogo do Pau is a Portuguese stick fighting art that to me looks like the bastard child of the longsword and staff that's amazing awesome and hawt. I'm very stoked at the prospect of adding it to my repertoire.

Wait wait wait, you mean to tell me there are entire fighting styles based on fighting with a severed head? Like, you're fighting some dudes, you lop off one guy's head and then BEAT HIS BUDDIES WITH HIS SEVERED HEAD?! My God, modern combat just feels like sissy stuff now...
