This OSAP doesn't sound like it's helping you all that much.  There's got to be some benefit you're not telling us about.

The main benefit, really, is not having to work full time while going to school. If I didn't have OSAP, I probably wouldn't be able to go to Uni. Or at least, I wouldn't have enough time in a day to attend classes and work and do homework.

So ditch it and work part time (20 hours a week instead of 40-ish).  Even at minimum (American, at least) wage, if you're working part time, you'll make more than $1000 a semester, and for less than full time job time commitments.

Minimum wage would be 10.25/hour here, so 20 hours a week, would put me at just shy of 1000/month. And that doesn't include tuition costs, which OSAP does cover.

EDIT: So in other words not really enough to get by. I've done most of the calculations, and they pretty much screw you over whichever way you go. I grumble, but at the end of the day I get by.

This is why I'm loving my chosen career path. Save up for eight thousand dollars (which I'll be achieving in about 3 months, and add on another couple for good measure) and voila, done tuition for the entire time I need to be there

One year intensives are amazing, specially if you end it with a job ready demo reel.

My suggestion is to actually work for a year full time, then head back to school. Either that, or choose to live at home with your parents. Sure, nobody wants to live with their parents, but on a financial level I wouldn't say your any less for doing so. It's a financially smart choice. Do you HAVE to be on Campus (or in the same area) all the time? I could however, understand it if you originally lived out of town. Then well, got nothing...

I'm from a 5000 person town 30-45 minutes from any major population centers and an hour and a half from my Uni. Honestly, I wouldn't mind living with my parents, they could use the help (they own greenhouses, but since they just bought them off my grandfather for whom they'd worked for 20 odd years and who just about ran the business into the ground; they're still fighting to build it back up, and with the economy like it is it's an uphill battle), but that just wouldn't work given the distances involved.

And with luck, I'll be done by next christmas; I'm in the middle of 3rd year at the moment, so I might as well finish things up and be done with it.

Signed up for a gym yesterday and went in there for an hour today for the first time. Was good **** and it being school holidays will probably motivate me to go at least 3 days a week, if not more. Though I'm expecting my entire upper body to ache like a mother****er tomorrow morning.

i did some wiring on the joystick of doom. got all my pots hooked up to headers so i can plug them into the joystick board. everything seems to work fine. there a small bit of noise and i might consider adding a low pass filter board to each channel to get rid of that if it gets troublesome. im not sure i have enough female headers for all my buttons, so i might have to salvage some scrap for them or directly solder them to the matrix board.
