Got my hands tore up pretty badly yesterday. I tried to grab a cat who obviously did not want to go into the house, where he was supposed to be. It didn't help that I grabbed him by the tail...
Anyway, left hand is OK, with only one bite near the pinky and ring fingers, swelling is OK and is a little sore if I try to extend my pinky all the way.
Right hand got most of the fury, with maybe 4 or 5 punctures on the hand and one near the wrist. Swelling and pain was to the point where I couldn't move any of my fingers, but it's gone down today and I can get back to typing/coding.
Of course, the pain and antibiotic medicines they gave me have a tendency to make me nauseous and dizzy.
thats cats for you, cute, furry, and sharp on 5 sides. my cat is an attention whore so if i go outside after him he will usually come up to me and demand pets. of course i pick him up wub his bewwy and he usually goes limp. hes never swung a paw full of razor blades at me. but i guess not everyone has a way with cats.
Nah, I usually have good relations with most cats... the ones around my mom's house either run up to me asking for pets/food or run away and hide somewhere. The latter are usually the one's I haven't been able to pet when they were young, and tend to do a funny dance of "hide! run for the food, hide!" during breakfast and dinner.
The cat that bit me has always been aggressive and a bit of a survivalist, but he's never really hurt me this badly. My guess is that the other cats have been bothering him since they're coming of age and starting to get real territorial, when I grabbed his tail he might've just reacted, thinking I was one of the other cats. I didn't want to grab his tail, but that was the only thing within reach when I was crawling through the thorns and brush trying to capture the bugger.
My cat is super playful but also knows his limits. If I grab his tail he'll turn around and nom on my arm, to the point that it is felt but never to the point of pain or drawing blood. He'll also nom on my leg when he's hungry. When I'm on the couch watching TV he'll sprawl out above my head and nom on my hair. When I'm on the compy he'll sprawl out behind the keyboard and nom on any random item within his reach. Then at the end of the day he passes out on my bed and cuddles. <3
That's how my cat usually is too, but like I mentioned before, he was under a lot of stress from the other tom cats.
Related news, right hand is flexible enough to use a keyboard again, although there's a spot by my right-hand's thumb that looks a bit... blackened. I'm guessing a small blood vessel that supplied that area was damaged , so I'm going to try to let my arm hang perpendicular to the ground to use gravity to my advantage. Still fighting boughts of nausea and dizziness from time to time.
