my old sound blaster xfi is giving me crap again. what is amazing is that they are still updating the drivers to this ancient sound card. so i will try the new ones.

That is amazing, given Creative's usual track record.  The last update for my SB Live 24-bit on this OS was back in 2005 or so.

apparently they rolled out an update for windows 8, but since windows 8 didnt change the driver architecture it works for vista and 7 too.

i had to nuke the drivers from orbit and re-install the new ones. i suspect what happened was i installed the old drivers (because i didnt think there would be an update since last time i got some drivers), and the auto updater that came with it decided to download the new drivers without uninstalling the old ones first. the result was an unusable sound card. this is an example of why spamming automatic updates is bad.

I had no idea middle-click meant "open in new tab" until just now. I've always just used ctrl+left-click. :P

You can also Right Click and go to 'Open in new tab'
If you hit it and it bleeds, you can kill it. If you hit it and it doesn't bleed...You are obviously not hitting hard enough.

My Android game has only made 2 sales. I am disappoint :(

Edit: Forum rules question (probably doesn't warrant posting its own thread in the "Support" board)... is it ok to use my forum signature to whore out promote a product I'm selling (specifically the aforementioned Android game)? Thinking something like "Buy my frickin' Android game!" and a link to the app's page on Google Play.

my computer has been locking up lately. seems to happen almost exclusively while writing forum posts. playing games, watching porn, and browsing the internet have all been working flawlessly. but forum posts lock **** up. idk whats going on. i thought it was that ancient sound blaster so i yanked it out and threw it into the scrap pile. but its still locking up. i've ran every diagnostic i have (and they all passed fine) and still cant figure out whats causing it. i also doubt its the new ssd because it has been performing flawlessly since i installed it. its also a fresh install of win7 so i doubt any software glitches.

I've been having 100% MYSTERY computer problems for a few months now too. Only when running linux, it likes to reboot randomly; W7 runs fine. Memtest shows nothing wrong, HD/SSDs are all working fine, PSU tester says that's fine. When I pulled out the logs they didn't help either; it would just reboot without warning. I've since given up on Linux on my desktop until I get an entirely new computer sometime mid/late 2014. Been tempted to see what BSD does to it but I haven't had the time to try it yet...

I had a BSOD going every time I went into standby mode for a little while, but then it magically stopped.  Now I'm getting this data execution prevention message every time I start up that I'd seen a couple of weeks ago, but then magically went away for a while until just yesterday.  These are the sorts of issues where you just throw your hands up and say, "Whatever."

bsods usually either mean check your memory timing or fix your drivers.

i also realized that the lock ups seem to end eventually. you can wait em out and reboot correctly. but the fact it only happens when posting on forums is disturbing.

Re: W-H-I-Y-L It's over <number goes here> (posts)
It was pretty funny yesterday
My General Manager at work was saying hi to me during shift (usual thing) and started up about the review I had (flying colours). She was wondering where else I worked saying "Don't you work in graphic design?" to which I responded "I don't work"

Laughter ensued by Chef, GM and myself followed by "So then what do you do for money? Sell drugs? Rob places? Are you a prostitute?"

This prompted me to laugh even more "I'm flattered you think I'm a prostitute!"

Chef rolled with that for a bit too followed by me mentioning where my street corner is for the gig.
Good times at work (well, more hobby since I work there once a week)

The entire point of the conversation was basically just to see if I was content working only the one shift for now and to learn what it is I'm trying to do

back on shift work shipboard briefly.  mixed feelings.  being on 2nd shift and not having to wake up in the morning is awesome.  being on my feet roaming all over a CVN all goddamn day is not.  spending more time at work, but it goes by WAAAAAAAAY faster.

so today i went to the store to get more caffine and drop some insane forms off at the post office. on the way there i ran into this cute fat chick who happens to live a few doors down who stopped me to say hi and asked me to hang out with her.
