I can see how this is a problem within the community (and in the rants I have read, nobody mentioned that). I can understand my not being able to join them, but them not being able to join me? That just won't do

Ordered a USB modem 'cause my new laptop doesn't have a dailup modem and my old laptop is breaking down. Most recent breakdown is a display failure (probably leaked due to excessive stress on the display, due to crappy hinges breaking down). I'm in the market for a new display, but I'm not sure when I'll actually order one.

The new modem should arrive in one week. This one should have Linux support as well, so I can possibly use it on the old laptop when I'm dicking around with making it a full-fledged debian system.

My job is grating on my soul in a massive way.
I didn't enter an apprenticeship with these people to learn the bastard art of cold calling. TBH, I only took the job because it is infinitely better than the rest that were available.

But now after three months of being in a job-role that is exactly what the swore to my face it wouldn't be, and being thrown on the phones without any real product training and expected to sell maintenance contracts that, I might add, haven't been explained to me or the other apprentice in any other detail than "We essentially go out and clean the units".

I was told I'd be taught about AC, how to survey sights and to at least ghost a BDM. As it stands, three months in and tomorrow will be my first day out of the office, and with no other advice than "listen to what he says to the customer."


So you guys know what? **** it.

I'm going to hold the candle to the devil until after Christmas, all the while looking for a position as an assistant Lab Tech. The job only needs basic GCSEs and my old school is just up the road along with a habit of hiring old students.

If I can't find anything, then I'll grit my teeth and bear the apprenticeship it until I do.

Glad to hear you've realised it before you're ten years later down the line. Have you raised your concerns with anyone with clout yet? Omitting the obvious fact of leaving after Xmas... Another option could be to fund further education, you like the science right? Do evening classes or open university. Better now than end up like Michael.

finally tried mwo, am less than impressed. mwll is way better.

mwll is a crysis wars (formally crysis) mod. mwo is a free to play mmo. though i wouldn't call it an mmo at all, its just another multiplayer arena shooter (like q3a or unreal tournament). there is nothing massive about it. even by arena shooter standards it doesnt really support that many players at a time. supposidly there are unlocks to grind (or pay) for, but im already board with the thing. i can play mwll get more mechs, things that arent mechs, better gameplay, better maps, and on and on and on. even mech 4 with all the mods is better than mwo.

Having left everything until the last minute and being busy tomorrow, my plans for tonight are (in order) after work whiskey with a mate (first time we've both been free to do what was once a regular occurrence in weeks), then swimming for an hour (I haven't been in days, and don't want to get out of the habit), then finalise my taxes, then write a 500 word application letter for the masters course I want to get into. Easy peasy.
