gave my computer a power supply transplant. will see if that makes things run better. so far so good.

also what in the hell kind of cinnamon rolls take 4 hours to make?  the ones that come in a can and bake for 10 minutes taste perfectly wonderful.

the totally awesome kind. those canned things taste like something that comes out of a can.

if the problem was a driver problem, and the drivers causing all the trouble had an asshole, it would have my fist in it. lets just see if my computer doesnt lock up while i type this.

holy **** nuts it posted.

it may have just been me forgetting to install the network driver. probibly because windows update thought it prudent to install the wrong one.

Second encounter last night, same person.  Same experience.

Not sure if problem or major bonus.  Leaning toward problem, since that makes a combined 65 minutes without one peak.

Waiting for someone else to post "the inevitable" response to this because I don't want it to be me.

Personally, I would be leaning towards "major bonus."  I am married, have a dedicated and patient lover, and I have no problem admitting I am more than a little jealous of your "problem."   :p

In other news, the daughter child finally (FINALLY) slept in her own bed the whole night through for the first time in what feels like months.  I didn't get to bed until late, but I feel better rested than I have in a long time.

Scotty, I know many men who would give many millions of dollars for that "problem."  Not that that's necessary consolation for you yourself, though.

Also, I lol'd.

We can file that in the category of sad-but-oh-so-very-true.

My ever intelligent and wise mother has lost the only copy of my birth certificate. It turns out this happened some months ago, but she is only telling me now....When I need it to apply for my provisional drivers licence.

Several?  That's an accomplishment. :p Seriously this is what they make fireproof safes for, though.  Keep all your critical personal documents in there (and maybe an external HDD with crucial backups to boot), and you're set.

Had an appointment with doofuslady (person mom+dad are paying to get me "independent") at 1pm at the library today, and she doesn't show up. I waited at the library for 2 hours for her to not show up. Grrrrrrrr.

yet another attempt to fix my rig. this time i lobed a whole truck load of nukes at winders. started over. used the old versions of drivers and did not install the service pack or any other updates. so far no lockups.

I just bought a 7" Android Tablet as a birthday present for myself.
It's prized for 199€ on the Carrefour website but for my surprise it was 79€ on their shelves. What surprized me even more was that in the end I paid only 69€ for it. Not complaining, it feels like a nice cheap tablet.

Battery time is of course short 3-5h I think, depending on the use of course, but meh what can you expect from a device of this prize.
Habeeb it...

omfg. why you still lock up and stuff!

last night things were working well. reinstalled all the things with nay a glitch, even the service pack and it ran fine all night. before i went to bed i did all the other updates. this morning i get lockups though not as severe as before. its pissing me off. fortunately i made a bunch of restore points, one of which i restored, and things are working well again. so i wonder if its a hardware thing.

ive eliminated the power supply and video card as potential failure sources, the only things left are the mobo (which i can afford to replace) and cpu (which i cant). but i think its something with one of the updates thats screwing things up. maybe try winders 8.1. *vomits* makes me wonder if m$ didnt fudge an update to make us all switch.

Re: W-H-I-Y-L It's over <number goes here> (posts)
Today, I started work on my personal Death Scythe. Death to whom? Only various grasses and shrubs that plague the lawns of my home. I promise.  ;)

Anyway, for my stock metal, I'll be using an old lawnmower blade approximately 18 or so inches long, about 3 inches wide, and about 3/16's of an inch thick. My tools are a 4 lb. smithing hammer, a trash pit converted into a forge, and a trusty old bench vise with an area wide enough to be used as an anvil.

The fuel I'm using so far is whatever random crap I can get that'll burn. Cardboard seems to burn well, and has a hot enough temperature to soften the iron so that I can shape it, but not hot enough to do any welding (so, no Japanese style folding).

Managed to bang the blade flat today. For those who don't know, most lawn mower blades have a curve towards the tips. This curve is undesired for the final form of the scythe blade, so it had to go.

I'll pick up work tomorrow, and maybe buy a bag or two of charcoal to see how well it'll fair once I get rid of the cardboard.
