my gpu fan is making weird noises. i might need to replace it, less have to use my old gtx260, or worse, the ****ty intel graphics on my cpu. no warranty, so i will probably need an aftermarket fan (possible the entire cooler). this kinda sucks., especially considering i only have $15 left. i might have to redneck it.

the new laptop arrived today. it's probably going to be returned. windows 8 is really, REALLY terrible. if i wanted a computer that works like a tablet i would have bought a goddamn tablet. i can't stand it after only about an hour of initial setup. i've heard you can install windows 7 on an 8 license. does anyone know anything about this? i might try 8.1, but that will break the SLI graphics (pretty much the main reason i got this). i also want to try a fresh install of 8 to kill the bloatware, but i'm always wary of doing that kind of stuff to a laptop and having all the stuff like the wireless radio and trackpoint stop working. it also looks like a lot of the bloatware is provided by windows anyway. i'm not using your goddamn app store. or registering a microsoft account. EVER.

also, the lack of a trackpoint is way more annoying that i thought it was going to be. partly due to the touchpad being poorly designed.

thing i dont like about 3d printers. every other week i hear about a mythical printer that is going to be in the < $500. it goes on kickstarter, and becomes instant vapor. the ones that do make it through are priced closer to 3k. now there are a couple slightly less than 1k printers that look worth buying (solidoodle looks nice), but still out of my range of affordability. ive given thought to buying a kit, but i doubt i will get very far when it comes time to write code (look at how far ive got on my helo autopilot).

Studying for finals, 25 minutes until my International Relations exam. I received the highest score in the class on my Foreign Policy final two semesters ago, and I didn't even study, so I don't foresee any problems.

Will be buying a computer in six months if everything goes well with my new study (Geo-Information-Sciences and all that stuff - mapping). Already the dubbing has started: An AMD FX8350 for better performance in games that support eigth cores and workload applications which do the same (which are those, anyway?), or the more ... well rounded i5?
