Something is wrong with my color vision.
It came up when I tried playing Hexic on my roommate's Xbox 360. I had trouble telling green, red, and orange hexagons apart and also blue from purple, all on top of having to stand 2 feet from the TV to see well enough to play. Guess I won't be playing that game again.
The doctors have implied that something was wrong by giving me color-related tests that I have been doing poorly on (never good for morale
) and that people with normal vision would presumably do well on, but they haven't told me what problems I am having with it. Colors mostly look as they did before, but apparently there are distinctions that I can no longer see.
As if no longer being able to read books/magzines/labels/etc. wasn't terrifying enough.
I tried playing FS2 and given my current vision of 20/500, it was hopeless. If this keeps up, I'll never play an FS2 mod or FSO TC again.
And it likely will keep up. The doctor is now fairly confident (but not certain) that the damage is permanent to some extent, but he can't say anything more than that with any degree of certainty. Great. Still waiting on blood test results that should provide more insight.
