I'm back! On September 7, I broke my left fibula and tibia. Not a compound fracture, but close - the bone damaged the underside of the skin. Today is the fist time I have sat down at my desktop since before the injury. I had hoped to get in a round or two of freespace, but I have to sit at a 90 degree angle ot the desk cuz my foot won't fit under, so I guess no games for a while. I've probably sat here long enough anyway today.

Took today off so I jetted up to the cottage last night. I had a bacon egg and cheeseburger for brunch. Since the weather was fantastic and I had excess calories to burn I paddle boarded around the entire lake. Took all afternoon but it was a lot fun.

Saw Three Days Grace and Pop Evil the other night. Good times were had. Had to go into work the next night for literally no reason. Left early, **** that. May or may not be fallout from that.

My two newest pocket knives arrived today. This brings my total to 67 (forgot about the one in the car). I think I'm developing a problem here.

So I needed to scan some documents today, haven't used my scanner in like 6 months.
Grab one of my SD Cards, scan, and save to SD.
Plug it into my SD->USB converter, plug into PC. Doesn't show up.
Hmm...Do a little digging, can't find it, PC hasn't registered it.
Figure the printer must have screwed it up.
Pulled SD out of converter, notice it is warm. Disregard this because I'm stupid.

^ repeat the above process 4 times until you've fried 4 SD cards of various sizes and transfer speeds(16GB, 32GB, 32GB, 16GB) before realizing your SD->usb converter is busted.

I've found card readers to be VERY finicky. You didn't necessarily fry them though. They always get hot when being written to.

Welp, managed to minorly stab myself in the hand with one of the new knives. Turns out that one needs two hands to safely close. Really stiff opening spring. Confirmed it's actually a good quality sharp blade at least. Was worried based on how cheap it was.

So does Neosporin ACTUALLY expire? Because I just used some with a date of 11/93.

I think they just put that on there in case it does expire, so they won't be liable. Still though, maybe pick up some fresh stuff?

I just started a new job. It's electrical work, I'm an official apprentice! The downside is that my first job is in the middle of the desert, and 10-hour work days. My feet are killing me, and my legs are chafing. Otherwise, I'm happy to have a real job, finally!

If it was like a year or so I'd say you were fine, but dear lord, that stuff expired before one of my siblings was born. I'd be far more concerned about what might have reacted in it than I would about the original cut getting infected in the first place.

Somehow my sound card settings all got reset. This is like the 5th time this has happened, and it's really starting to piss me off. And because creative has literally the worst drivers on earth, it takes several minutes just to move from one screen to the next and the settings themselves are very poorly implemented in windows 7. It's going to take weeks to get back to the perfectly balanced sound I had before. At least it looks like I won't have to play the reinstall game again this time.

It really makes me sad that kickass standalone sound cards built around music/home theater aren't really a thing anymore. Onboard sound may be better now that it was before, but it's still a damn far cry away from my getting close to decade old XtremeMusic. Every time I've looked recently all I see is ones boasting about how good they are for headphones, and most don't even have the standard three-prong 5.1 PC speaker connections despite claiming 7.1 support. I've yet to figure out how they do that with a single output jack.
