fastest car you've EVER seen on the road
yes, i've decided to build the fastest car any of you have EVER seen on the road.

i just bit the bullet and purchased this for the CTS-V...

(14:1 compression; 640HP naturally aspirated. 7.0L)

and two of these

(T3/T4 hybrids)

additionally, i already had this:

magnuson supercharger (good for about 12PSI)

this marks the first time in my life i've ever bought something on credit... i know tomorrow morning i'll regret this and probably sell everything, but hey, who knows... maybe i'll finish the project.

end result - i want to have the most powerful CTS-V in the world.  the Tremec T56 is going to get different gear ratios (i want to have a slightly higher 5th and slightly lower 6th), and i'm going to be one of the first people to install a clutch on the supercharger, so that in the higher RPM range the computer can turn it off (will build that into the tune) by flipping a relay, and disengaging the supercharger clutch.  i'm hoping to have a top end of just over 20PSI, and around 1200HP with full boost.

hopefully the supercharger will give all the power i need down low, and then once the turbos kick in higher up, the SC will be turned off (that's going to be fun... fabricating that clutch in, as well as the turbos).  3" pipe all around, and 1 7/8" headers, feeding into a 3" exhaust.

the engine's got a forged bottom end, and can easily handle the boost,

everything above cost me about as much as the car's worth :-/  hopefully this ends up being worth it in the end.

I have all the components to build a nitrous kit that i'll modify to 250shot probably, and then i plan on integrating meth injection into the intake tract as well.

the cam's fairly mild, but i think that's going to work out well with the monster boost i plan on running.

I'm hoping this can be the first CTS-V to top 200MPH (shouldn't be an issue at all... hopefully 5th gear will redline (7k RPM) at 200, and 6th gear will redline at 220.  4th at 163, 3rd at 115)

i'm trying to keep it street legal, and i'm hoping with nitrous to be close to 1400 at the tires.

i realize this is going to mean i'll have to do even MORE work on the suspension, as well as reinforce the chassis, and i'm probably looking at $15k in labor since i won't be able to do it all on my own.

expect a post tomorrow explaining why i'm sending everything back because i don't like the bill.

goal is to be able to beat any and all imports i run into.  and domestics.  i don't think that'll be an issue.

maybe tomorrow i'll sell the S/C and engine, and just keep the turbos, and just build them into the stock 400HP LS6 5.7L engine, which should give me close to 600 at the tires.  more than that (actually, more than 550... 13ish PSI) would be pushing the limits of the stock block.

Hoosier 31 by 18.5 Pro Street Radials

the 3.73: posi rear end (differential) can barely stand up to the current HP/torque, so i'm probably going to have to have a custom one built... more than likely at 4.1xor.2x: ratio.  since i'm going a lot for acceleration in the top end, rather than a 0-60 or 1/4 mile dragster, i think that'll be fine

bring it on M5, RS4/6, 63 AMG

...lamborghini, ferrari, or saleen.

and where exactly ar you gonna drive it at 200 or 220, dont know what the speed limit on highways is there but im assuming its arround say 90?

it just looks kinda silly to me, so doees buying a supercar anywhere except in germany.

Re: fastest car you've EVER seen on the road
we have tracks over here.

this is texas... we also have 150 miles of private, 2 lane, paved roads... i'm not building it to drive 210 on a public highway.

besides... i just think it would be cool to do a 60-160mph pull in 3 seconds...

Speed limit is still 65-75 on the highway  :p

Re: fastest car you've EVER seen on the road
Wouldn't you also need uprated fuelling, intercooling and some kind of bespoke management ?

I guess it's one of those "if you have to ask why you won't understand" projects. Like the guy over here who put a 27-litre Aero Engine (Rolls Royce Meteor) into a Rover SD1.
Not to my tastes but good luck with it. Hope to see some videos. Especially if you put it on a rolling-road.  ;)

Re: fastest car you've EVER seen on the road
yeah but fueling's a no-brainer.  and the supercharger came with an intercooler.  i'll need one for the turbos, but that shouldn't be too hard to find.

and yeah, of course it'll need a good tune.

Re: fastest car you've EVER seen on the road
well it wouldn't be a daily driver. lol.  but right now i get about 15 miles per gallon city, and about 23mpg highway.

after these mods, probably 25mpg highway, and about 8 mpg city.  give or take.

Re: fastest car you've EVER seen on the road
Am I seeing and reading all that correctly....turbo and supercharging?  On the same engine?  Has that been done on a car engine?  I'm well aware of the P-47 Thunderbolt's turbosupercharger setup but thats an airplane :)

Re: fastest car you've EVER seen on the road
Isn't that 14:1 compression too high for a big turbo motor BTW ? Or will you be dropping the compression ?

Lancia used the set-up in an insane 80s Rally car. More recently VW used it in a 1.4 Golf. They called it "Twincharger" IIRC and it made 140bhp.

For those unaware, turbos and superchargers are essentially pumps that force the air into an engine, rather than the natural suction otherwise generated by the engine. A supercharger is belt driven directly by the engine. Great for initial throttle response, a handy power increase and IMHO they sound great. Turbos are driven by the exhaust gases as they leave the engine. Great for big power but they don't really kick in untill higher revs (say, >3000rpm). The tricky part is the switch over from one to the other.

I fancy fitting a supercharger and/or fuel injection to a non-supercharged/injected engine. Far more modest than Stealth's but it would be in a junk-yard, "Scrapheap Challenge" vain. Something like 200bhp from a 1.8/2.0 but for minimal outlay.

yeah if i ran 14:1 with 20+ lbs boost, then i'd probably (no, definately) start seeing some pre-ignition.

however, if i bump up the octane, that won't be an issue, and i'll only run into that problem in the higher RPM range, so hopefully the meth/alcy injection (haven't decided exactly which way i'm going to go with this) will take care of that.

in a way i almost want to build in some sort of octane booster in a tank, and have it feed that into the injectors according to boost levels.  wouldn't be TOO hard to do, and the computer could control that fairly easily

Re: fastest car you've EVER seen on the road
Stealth your car is starting to sound like an aircraft engine :)

I know a little about WWII aviation engines such as the Merlin, Sabre, Allison, or DB601 and your setup is sounding more and more like stuff that those engines were capable of. That is just unreal! :)
