Redrawing the texture in double resolution is kind of pointless if you don't add the detail to justify it. But here there's actually
less detail, and interpolation won't solve it: your normal maps look better with the original textures. I can see you've been very faithful to the old ones' layout and I realise they must have taken a lot of time, but I don't think it's paid off. Not on their own, anyway.
I imagine they'd make a very good template if someone came along and painted more detail on top of them. But as it is...
