Wow really good fighter. Is this a pirate's fighter or just a Imperial design that is supposed to be cost effective and cheap?

Uglies are typically pirate fighters, because pirates can't afford real starfighters from Rendili et al. The so-called DIE-wing is the worst of the lot, combining the absolute worst features of the TIE fighter and Y-wing. i.e., it's slow AND it has no shields.

and with all 3 engines, it SHOULD be rather fast

And Brand's right, the DIE-Wing lacks the powerplant that's typically connected to the Y's nacelles and the panels typically connected to the TIE's thrusters, so they both operate far below spec.

Since the fighter is basically welded together, I doubt they'd hold up well in combat either. The only kick you'd get out of flying the DIE-Wing is the novelty of flying such a unique fighter ... up until you get into a dogfight, that is.

Normal fighters are welded together. And if you did a good enough job on an ugly...

The point of uglies is that they're NOT as good as mass produced fighters.  I don't imagine that if you welded the wings of an F-14 on the body of a MiG-25 that it'd be a very good fighter, or fly at all for that matter.

One could argue the benefits of such modifications to death, but the point in the end is that in Star Wars canon, uglies suck.  It's a fact.  We'll have models for some because for the most part, they make great cannon fodder.

I tend to prefer the look of the reb hull + tie panelled uglies over t'other type.
Brand x i meant to ask what prog do you use to uv map out of curiousity?
Also do uglies perform below the Z95s capabilities or roundabouts?

     Where's that info come from? Wookie-pedia or something? (which I've never heard of).
     Only time I heard of uglies is when the Falcon was doing the blackhole run in the Admiral Dala series and some pirates came and got their butts killed. Didn't know there was any canon information about 'em.

Wookiepedia is the star wars wiki.  It's usually pretty good about canon, there's quite a few canon nazis who are administrators so the info is generally reliable.
