They wouldn't be ready to be used. They'd be defueled and likely some important components of the power system and weapons are missing; things that are easy to replace but necessary for it to work. They'd also have no interior atmosphere. Vacuum is a much more gentle resting place.

There a various degrees of deactivation. I think the GTVA probably went for something along the lines of a boneyard rather than mothballing. The ships were seriously stripped down before deactivation and lack weapons and other major, expensive, and easily reusable components, but the hulls are still intact and it would be quicker to reactivate them then build new ones.

That'd be a great weapon. Release a millions upon millions of moths. They start going for the light of engines, lasers, anything. You'd need a lot of moths though. Probably good for weapon suppression and or get enough of them around the engines of a ship...disabling.

You know, that would be a really fun thing to put into a mission or something. You stumble across a mothballed fleet just waiting out there, your peeps are getting the shaft, so what do you do? fire the whole friggin' fleet back up. Or if your allies aren't getting shafted, just rearm the thing and become a regional power.

I think that the ships (some of them) are partially stripped and leased to traders/the like.

And I was talking about old WIP models and such when I started the new topic. But this being HLP...
