Im more concern about how they do to fit into the astaroth... or the dragon class figthers.. really small and difficult to hit.. those must be big fighters.. and seems terrans (comparing to that) tend to create bigger fighters, wonder is it's about the life support crap and all that..

Well it was said somewhere in canon that the fighters got their power from the Shivan itself. So its sort of like the Shivans are integrated into the fighter.
