If he is only using the Port as a mod and not the MediaVPs, I'd assume the asteroids work fine, since the retail textures are being used. I think.

Ok the build is 3_6_9 and I already had jpg/tga textures enabled, the problem occurs more so when i'm playing FSPort 

Is the Port's mod.ini referencing the correct mediavp folder?

I can't sleep at night if I know that some specific person is having problems with FreeSpace. j/k

If only parts of the asteroids are missing, it would possibly mean that certain textures are missing. Which, in turn, would imply that your MediaVPs could be corrupt or missing data. Redownloading them might hlep. Or not.

There is actually an issue in BtRL that can cause half visible asteroids. Take a look at this thread.
