Let him enjoy some classic gaming.  Lord knows, if the current trend continues, all he'll have to play, aside from the classics, will be piles of pure, unpasturized bull****.

You can tell him he's not a true Super Metroid expert until he has mockballed his way to an early Ice Beam, cleared the game in less than two hours, avoided Crocomire and Spore Spawn altogether, gotten through Lower Norfair without a gravity suit, and mastered the art of the infinite bomb jump, vertically, horizontally, and diagonally.

And if he has no idea what I'm talking about then he's nowhere close to being an expert.


But he should also be enjoying the crown jewel of the Metroid series. It's one of my favorite games, although I've never gotten used to the Classic Controller's button layout. Can't even wall jump correctly with it.

What`s so bad about him liking a classic game? Don`t we usually complain that these types of kids have never played anything before a PS1 or N64? Can they do nothing right? <_<

play some now. I'm happy with him playing. But sometimes he can be overreactive. Like a declaration of brilliance for something us "older" gamers would take for granted. The normal wall jump (wall to wall, not even a jump to the same wall) which really eats my patience.
Anyhooo, this game. . I've not played it for over a decade. I've seen it played but not indulged as i would have been unable to let go and plasma beamed anyone who tried to stop me. Great music, great gameplay. It'll never be beaten.

I've barely played, some Prime series at a friends house, and watching another friend playing the original on an emulator.

Primes a different beast. Still good. Just not good old sixteen bit joy. Fusion on the Gba was as close to the original as this millenium got. I haven't played hunters or Prime 2. But i finished corruption yesterday. That's where the nostalgia came from i guess

It literally gave me headaches.... I should probably see a doctor about that, though. I'm not kidding, I felt as sick as a dog after the first hour or so in Link's dark world the purple-zone.

Imho the third one was the worst... too linear.
Veteran/hard was not really difficult except for the endboss.
The dark world is very annoying in MP2, but the enemies are very creative and fun to fight, more than an in 1 or 3.
However, every part had its own strength and weakness.

I didn't like it. I really struggled with side scrolling exploration games. Just couldn't get my bearings and would be lost all the time. Much prefered more straight forward games like Probotector/Contra, Cybernator etc. I really like Prime however. Never finished it Hard as the final boss just took so long and I would get bored. Meta Ridley "rocks" though.

Hated Echoes. Just felt all wrong and would piss me off.

Prime II is my favorite Prime...

Maybe it's not as atmospheric, but it's darker, creepier, and harder than the other two, which I like.

Oh yeah, and it has the most epic Metroid battle EVER in it: the second fight against Dark Samus. The only one that rivals this fight is Meta Ridley in Prime 1.

Super Metroid > Prime series.
I still like them and i think i'll get Prime2 to fill in the blanks (i bought prime for my bro when i got him a gamecube four/five years back.

Agreed. Doesn't mean the Prime series is bad though. Super Metroid is an incredibly hard game to top.

Note that I said Prime 2 was my favorite of the Prime series, not the entire Metroid series.
