Going down fighting, I think is a bit of an overstatement. Iirc, by then you should've wiped out most of the Shivans from the field, so its just sitting and waiting for the supernova to smack you in the face.

Well if you manipulate the mission by not doing your job and not destroying the Cruisers then sure. But when I play it I'm battling hordes of Shivan bombers by myself trying to save thousands of marines when the nova starts. Or at least I did in the last mission of Flames of War, I assume that Trashman simply used the same mission file with sounds waves. Haven't played the main campaign in a long time.

I nuked the cruisers pretty early on; then spent a short while lobbing Trebs around. Then just floated randomly in space till the nova hit. Was using an Ares, btw.

Watching the Colossus die such a lame wimpy death just made me angry the rest of the missions.
It acted like it had a crew of 1 and he was an ego maniac with no experience. The cruisers put up a bigger fight!
I felt insulted for defending something that essentially dives into the toilet without any swimming ability.
I figured if I did something different in earlier missions I wouldn't lose that awesome ship I had 5 missions earlier but the missions throw me into a decrepit fighter I had from the 5th mission. I seriously want to blow out the ships tables to offer the better ship :D
