Re: Stargate Universe - new show airing next year
I thought the Prometheus was ugly as ****, then again it was just a prototype.

Daedalus is uglier, all squat and crap.

But more to the point, the Prometheus was ugly in that all-functionality-and-armor-plate sort of way. It was a warship, and whatever beauty it might have should be purely accidental if it has any at all. Like the Orion. I don't want it to be pretty. (Though I concede the Asgard managed to combine the appearance of functionality and prettiness fairly well.)

Or the last half of DS9.

Which is a bad thing.

Heresy. Summon the Inquistion.

The Voyager comparison's broke anyways, we know it only takes 18 days for the Daedalus to cross the damn intergalatic void to Pegasus, and I doubt that's even our nearest neighbor. (Hyperspace drive in Stargate eats Star Trek warp drive for a snack.) And if all else fails you can find a damn black hole and build a gate to get home. (Which I really have to assume they can do by now...)

Re: Stargate Universe - new show airing next year
I actually like Earth ships because they look like they've been built by Earth (as opposed to looking alien built), they look rugged, heavily armed and armored, they look like they've been build utility and function in mind.  The Prometheus was prototype of all future larger human vessels. It served its purpose and helped make the Daedalus class a better warship. As far as I know, Daedalus is better than Prometheus in every way. I like both designs.

Goa'uld ships looked alien, intimidating and quite stylish, same goes for their weapons like the staff. While staffs power output varied quite greatly depending on situation, O'Neill when showcasing P90's with Carter to the rebel jaffas demonstrated the difference of human weapon design.

But I agree with Nuke that Ancient ships don't look that good. Orion even lacks the impression I get from Earth ships, so it's just ugly.

What annoys me about Earth vessels now, is that thanks to the asgard weapons and shields they're now one of the strongest known ships in both SG-1 and Atlantis. They don't seem to have much problems in destroying Ori warships or Replicators Orions, not to mention wraith ships don't stand a chance. The only saving grace of balance is that Earth does not seem to have the resources to build a fleet of warships, not fast at least.

The Asgard Core is another annoyance. I liked when Earth was the underdog, now they have the Core and all technology and information Asgard had. Meh.

The Voyager comparison's broke anyways, we know it only takes 18 days for the Daedalus to cross the damn intergalatic void to Pegasus, and I doubt that's even our nearest neighbor. I doubt distance will be the problem. I guess initially they have no control where the ship goes and when they gain control of the ship, they may have other priorities than returning directly to home.

for what?  :D

i hope this atlantian ship isnt as ugly as a few ships i have seen in my time, the gou'ld ship that had a triangle inthe center and the then the outer hull layer make it look comparativly weak and look mass produced compared to say the puddle jumper which looks like a diagonally cut tube which doesn't look like it was mass produced, and more for atmospheric climates.

Love Stargate...can't wait for more!  No serious complaints about the series...its fun and hopeful and I eat it up.  I like BSG for different reasons but if I want to sit down and watch something fun and exciting I'll go through my SG-1 or Atlantis DVD's.

SG1 i think is team numbers SG1 StarGate team 1   SG2 SG3 and so on
FROM FS1
When the destroyers came for us, we attacked. Never had we been defeated. They were like the others: strange, hideous, resisting, fighting. Only these were not like the others: They did not die. We made our first retreat. We could forego one system. We left it to the destroyers and went elsewhere. But they followed. They hunted us. They followed us when we retreated, discovered where we lived.
For a long time we did not know why they chased us. They were no ordinary enemy. They did not seek our territory, our technology, our resources.
Now we know our crime was sin.

Re: Stargate Universe - new show airing next year
SG! started going irreparably down hill when they started producing a fleet. the first few seasons, when they had no hope of repelling a Goa'uld invasion and the only thing that kept them alive was the fact that earth was so weak and insignificant that it wasn't worth the effort to crush. I could have accepted them being able to capture and retrofit gliders, maybe a few seasons latter haveing the ability to make a fighter. but for some reason earth was given a sudden and dramatic technology boost that took them from covert subterfuge, to open hostility, from nothing to a major galactic player in just like, four years. and when they moved to scifi (burn the one who called SG1 an origonal program) you could tell, the effects, the tone, the camera angles, there is something about scifi programming that you can just feel it.

I have a feeling that it wouldn't have turned out that way had Daniel Jackson not taken a level in bad-ass.

i guess his mind was on sha're and laura (i think her name was before she became gou'ld) and harsesis. considering it all leads back to the gou'ld (snakeheads) he took hes revenge, after all theses years of sacrifice including his life where the gou'ld where indirectly responsible for that by planting the naquadria in the ground of jonas quinn's homeworld long time ago and the locals experimenting on the substance to kill their neighbors for land. wouldn't you try to after so much even so?

no more gou'ld word, i will call them snakeheads instead.
