Well I can see why LucasArts might think they don't need permission in order to use a SW model but to not give credit afterwards is rather rude.

Actually I thought it was FractalSponge's, unless that's an alt nick he uses.  But yeah, it's the closest thing I know of to a company taking fan work, not an original concept, but still the hard work of a fan and he ended up getting no credit in the end for it.  Wasn't even a model they used in the game I don't think.

     Scroll down to the "Defender" to see what I mean. BSG crew took this guy's drawing and put it right into the TV show. And he didn't get credit as far as I know. Though he didn't seem to mind. More flattered than anything. I think the ship also made an appearance in Serenity by virtue of both productions drawing from the same CG studio.

That's right the Colonial Defender was in Serenity.  You can see it as part of the Reaver Fleet when the crew is leaving Miranda, i think she is in the upper left of the shot?

Well regardless of everyones *****ing that ill receive here, i will (and have) bug interplay on their forums about the future of the freespace licence, and yes, about freespace 3. Not a better time then now to finally get in contact with them.

Save your flames for the newbies. Im not the only one that hasent given up hope, 10 years later. Wont be the last.

But regardless, interplays deal with GOG is a good moove, and great pirces too. Tho they have odd wording, and crappy descriptions 'fight for mankinds survival' etc.

Interplays new site, with freespace 2 being promoted on their home page, is a good sign. It could mean something but i wont read into it.
Congrats to Inferno, or nowadays "INF SCP" i believe???, for the moding of that pritty ship they have on their homepage. Too bad you wernt credited. But its a good thing one of them got it from us.

EDIT: Okay. I finally remembered to ask about this. Sorry for the delay.

It was mistakenly added to a list of images for Freespace and the artist incorporated into the logo for the website because it was the best image from the lot that he had.

Same as it ever was, one would imagine, except that GOG obtained a license from Interplay to sell the game, just as GameTap obtained one to include it as part of their service.

Also, people responding "ZOMG FS3 is taboo!!1!1" are far more annoying than people broaching the subject in the first place, so let's give it a rest.

I don't care if someone starts a FS3 thread as such, but what I have to do, as a moderator, is not judge threads by their content, but by the anticipated reaction it will create. That's why, until there's more than guesses, hopes and imaginings of what people would like to see, there's no point discussing it.

Part of the problem is the fact it's been done to death many years ago.... 'Bigger ships, Bombier Bombs, Laserier Lasers!', we all know what we would have liked to have seen, it's like if someone said 'I've got a great idea! someone slapped me in the face today when i told them that the makers of freespace also made SR2. The slap came when i told them it wasn't an FPS.

They said i got their hopes up for nothing over a 'free, high graphics FPS that DOESN'T EXIST.'

People are such jerks these days...
