Venom: My Sol fic marginalizes the FreeSpace stuff, so a full-blown fusion bomb detonation is less a smallish anticap warhead going off than a chain reaction that creates a smallish star right on top of whatever the torpedo hits- just about big enough to vaporize, say, a good half of Earth and knock the rest into the sun.

Needless to say, they're unstable to the point that the 5 or so that have ever actually been made stand a good chance of going off inside their bomber, if the bomber gets hit too hard.
