I like the general idea of haveing a StarCraft spacebattle mod.
You first problem will most likely be to get enough people for modeling and creating proper TBLs and graphics. So I would "drop" the storyline idea for now and change it to a "recreation" of certain battles.

For example set you goal to create a single working mission with just 4 different models. Like a Terran Banshee, Behemoth cruiser against some Protoss fighters. All you need is 3 different models.
When you can organise all of this and show it you might, much easier, get more support for your mod and will be able to create a TC with a rich storyline.

Thanks for the advice guys, I appreciate it :D. I would like to see if dragonsniper is commited to this before procedding. I would hate to make him feel cut out of this. It is his idea anyway, and I wouldn't want to take charge of it if he does want to do this, but any help would be apprectiated if we do go forward.

Well, you can start learning to model now, or do some of the FRED academy stuff to learn. If you already know how to model, you can start modelling the Wraith, which would be easier to start with, seeing as how it has no turrets and stuff.

modeling, that'll take a while to learn. FRED, not so hard. Pretty logical. I've put together several missions for my own enjoyment. Turned out pretty well. Do you recommend a modeling program to start out on? Being free is a must.

Blender is a good, free tool, but will take a while to learn. There's a program called Sketchup, but I know nuts about it. There's also TrueSpace I guess.

Well, I do have a good understanding of what FRED can do and how to do it. But I don't know about dragon. Where is he anyway?

Sure thing. I should have a website up for the project in the next week or so. From there I can post up a topic that will lead to the site to try and get some attention. I like the idea of taking some battles that happened throughout the SC campaign (of the Terrans of course. I don't want to commit to doing zerg... oh what a nightmare that could be. :)) As soon as the website is up I'll start taking positions through it. Give me some time and it should be going (hopefully) at 2 weeks max. :)

You can. Model it with maya, and make its texture, and UV map it properly, and I'll see about converting it to .pof.

I case your wondering where I've been, I've be trying hard to learn to think in a different language to be able to use Blender. How do you extrude a straight line? It seems physically impossible. :ick:

And we need a good name. Any ideas?
