*drool* The Epic Journey BSG 4.5
Just found out today and I must say I'm sooo ready.  I'm really wondering about Roslin's threat about coming for "them".  They also try to pull a Adama is the 5th cylon trick, which is probably not true at all but hey, I'm excited.  :pimp:

That's from a Season 1 episode, remember? 'Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down'?

It could be intended to suggest he's the fifth, though.

Re: *drool* The Epic Journey BSG 4.5
Yes, but did they have the "Final Five" thing planned as part of the story back then?

I mean back then, the final five were probably intended to be ordinary cylons, hence the jump from No 6 to No. 8. No 7 would probably have turned out to be a deep cover operative like Boomer. But the writters eventually decided to take a more fun option with the "Final Five" arc as the "you see a copy, thus he/she's a Cylon" method used for many of the others

*Spoilers*

No 1 (Cavil) Revealled when Audience sees a Copy
No 2 (Leoban) Revealed by dialogue after Adama kills one. Confirmed by sighting of copies
No 3 (D'anna) Revealed when audience sees a Copy
No 4 (Simon) Revealed when audience (and Starbuck) sees a copy
No 5 (Doral) Suspected by Cast. Confirmed by audience seeing copies
No 6 (Caprica/Shelly) Revealed as a Cylon right from the start
No 8 (Boomer/Athena) Revealled when the Audience sees a Copy

See - 5 of the 7 where revealled by the Sighting of Copies. and one (Leoban) of the other 2 was revealled via dialogue and confirmed by the presence of copies. It gets a bit boring/repeatative. SO the writters planned something different

Yes, but did they have the "Final Five" thing planned as part of the story back then?

I mean back then, it looked more like the Cylon models would be revealed one at a time, with nothing special about the "Final Five". There's no other way to rationalise the absence on No. 7

They didn't have the Final Five planned that far back, no. But they could be using the clip to suggest that he's the 5th now.

Waitwait.

I mean, okay, so Tigh sort of seems to be impossible given what Razor showed us, but there's still a chance his backstory's that fabricated.

However given that Adama more or less found the first Hybrid on his own and we've got reasonable confirmation of that via Razor, plus we have reasonable confirmation that Adama was a pilot before the first Hybrid existed, unless they want to tell us the whole flashback sequence of Razor was a lie or a bad trip, he can't be a Cylon. He proveably onscreen predates the Hybrids and therefore predates the humanoid models. It's just not possible.

I'm certain he's not the Fifth. Pretty much everyone is. The teaser's job is to tease, though, so they're using that clip to get people wondering.

Also, I think you might be wrong on a very critical point.

Spoiler:
The Final Five predate the Significant Seven Cylons. In all likelihood they predate the First Hybrid and the Cylons as we know them. They weren't made by the Colonials at all, nor by the old-school Cylons.

Remember, 'the Five who come from the home of the Thirteenth.' They're from Earth, or from Kobol. That means they are very likely extremely old.

Remember what Leoben said in the Season 4 premiere? "The things they've seen..." She's suggesting they've been alive for a long time. The Final Five are very old, probably not even skinjobs as we know them.[/i]

Oh I know where the clip comes from.  I'm questioning the significance of it in the 4.5 trailer...I think they are trying to play with us a little.

Spoiler:
The problem with that is then they're not really Cylons at all...and there is no reason for the other Cylons to know of them or even much care about them. The Cylons are a Colonial AI servant race that rebelled, canonically. The original sentient-tinmen versions did that. There's just no room in their backstory for a semi-mythological set of precursors, particularly ones that don't know it. They could well be the first of the skinjobs, and far predate the others even since we have reason to believe the skinjobs are not more than a couple of years old at the time of the Cylon genocide of the Colonies, but that they predate the events of the Razor flashbacks just throws the whole thing to Wild Mass Guessing craziness. You have to remember, the truce lasted what, thirty years? Forty? There is plenty of time for them to be five or six times older then the seven without predating Razor.

I'd agree with you, except for the one devastating fact that the Five 'come from the home of the Thirteenth': either Earth or Kobol. Which means they are very old indeed.

...this all has happened before, this all will happen again... :D

Warning! Contains spoiler from season 4!!
Spoiler:

Tigh is to old, to be created after the first Cylon war, also the final five are aging.
The other seven are not, which is mentioned by Adama in episode 4.10.
The Cylons are the 13th tribe who left Kobol over 3000 years ago, they has become more "human" as time past by.
It has been confirmed by Aaron Douglas ( Tyrol ). Granted, he could have lied about that, but...

"The humans lived with the gods on Kobol,' till..."

Far more important is the question, who or what are "gods"?
The RIS version of the beeings of light?

Head-six and head-Baltar, are they angels, send by the god (s), to save/ destroy humanity?
That the angels ( head six ) are real ( physically spoken ) can you see in the scene where Baltar trys to enter the room of his fellowers, and the Marine beats the crap out of him.
Head six is lifting him up!!

Re: *drool* The Epic Journey BSG 4.5
Spoiler:
Head Six doesn't lift him. In the podcast for that episode, RDM said that people were interpreting that too wildly -- it's just power of suggestion on Baltar. He's doing it all himself.

Re: *drool* The Epic Journey BSG 4.5
That was class. Unless there were wires involved it was very reminisent of a part in the Charlie/Hank fight in Me, Myself and Irene.

Sorry if that cheapens BSG (or vice versa) for anyone.

I'm very much looking forward to the final run but don't really have high expectations anymore. Nor do I think too much about whats going to happen because clearly, we're at the stage where the writers have only fairly recently decided on the fifth and concluding plot so there's not really any evidence to look to.

And are they really, still pushing the Lee/Kara sexy-time angle?

I don't think so. I hope not!

Re: *drool* The Epic Journey BSG 4.5
Well that's what I siad but there's definately a kiss in there. Might well be a 'I can't face certain death without you knowing that I still lo....ike you' suicide mission kiss but it's still there.

Seriously, is Lee still meant to be 'happily' married to Duwala (?)? Because there's no hint of spousal affection. Whether that's supposed to be because they live a frigid, sexless, 'don't touch me!' arrangement, or because the two actors hate each other, is beyond my ability to say.

But seriously, on the writers/actors part it wouldn't take any time to have dropped a few smiles here, a brief bush of a hand there. It's pretty rediculous.

Um, those two split up at the end of Season 3, remember?

Over the whole issue of Baltar's trial?

Re: *drool* The Epic Journey BSG 4.5
What? Really? I don't remember that at all.

Hmmm, wow. That explains things somewhat. Seriously, I watch this with a friend and neither of us caught that.

Hmmm, right then.

Dualla walked out on him in a scene during Crossroads Part 1, I believe. Or maybe it was 'The Son Also Rises'.

Re: *drool* The Epic Journey BSG 4.5
Yep, I just checked it. While I should have remembered, it was a rediculously short scene that left us to fill in the blanks regarding the constant arguments that they must've been having leading up to it.

Now don't mistake me, I didn't and don't want more attention on that relationship, mainly cause Dualla's pretty boring, but it was still pathetically underdeveloped.

The whole Dualla/Lee/Starbuck/Anders love polygon was probably the lowest this show's writing has ever fallen. I think they decided to just kick the wreckage out the door and move on.
