I had a couple of ideas for new weapons that might be interesting.
1) Short range energy draining dumbfire for when you are in a cloud of enemies and you need to thin out the numbers. You plug a couple of these into the hull as it passes, they drain the shield energy into themselves slowly like a big capacitor then when the shields are drained they discharge the power back into the hull shorting out all subsystems tempoarily (15 sec?) good for when you are massivley out numbered (defensive missons?) and you have to buy a bit of breathing space. Doesn't kill just knocks 'em out for a few secs.
2) Scatter cannon, instead of a concentrated stream of fire this produces a high speed spray like a shotgun, again good for getting dragons ect up close where accuracy is difficult.
3) Explosive countermeasures. Turns a defense into a weapon and works like the infyrno, one click launches and a second detonates, good for when you are being pursued.
