I found this awesome thing today. It was the only thing that would clean out an antivirus pro 2010 infection. Normally i'd use avast, but it wasn't available (it probably would have wiped that computer clean anyway, avast is very good). Was thinking about using avg, but the registration for it is not very specific (registration needs to be a little more detailed).

Then i found antivir avira free antivirus. You don't need to register for it. Registration does happen, but from what i've been able to tell, as long as you keep it updated it stays registered. Every update starts a 4 week grace period before reregistration is necessary. Hence, as long as it updates once a month you're all good. And updating reregisters you.

I'm going to be testing this bastard out. You dont need to have them send you an email with a registration code like avast or avg or whatever. You just download and install, and it has raelly good detection of malware. Although i really like avast way better i hate registering for it. And most people don't know they need to reregister it after a year and 2 months even when it brings up a window that says "hey, plz reregister". Avira is way better than avg which is good.

Yeh, Antivir is ok. The reasons why I use avast! instead of Antivir are: the scheduled boot scan thingamadoodle of avast!, localisations of avast! and the fact that Antivir throws advertisement popups during updates.

comodo antivirus has gotten much better. It's starting to detect everything about as good as clamwin. They still need to make it better. Their firewall. Idk how to ****ing use that thing sometimes.

OH NOES, you get like one ad in the middle of updating....lmfao. Even if there was a bunch of ads, who cares. They only pop up during updates that don't take very long to complete. This program is still pretty damn hassle free.

An ad a day keeps the calmness away. I still think that registering avast! once a year is less annoying than shutting ad popups once a day. And Antivir makes a fuss about the update procedure with all the status stuff and situation reports. avast! just says "o hai, iz updated kthxbai".

Still not saying that Antivir is bad. I just personally prefer avast! over it.

I actually prefer to change avast into silent update mode, it only notifies me about failed updates and when a restart is needed. Otherwise it stays silent

That is one of the two changes I always do after installing avast. The second is disabling voices. message popups are enough thank you very much.

I leave the voices on and leave it non silent mode for customers. It makes them feel more confident in the decision of replacing norton or symantec with avg. I just restart the computer after installing, avg pulls an update of some kind, and anounces it to the room right when i tell them it would do so and always do so.

It's another cheap way to show people that it works great, although it's all about the underlying system of a virus scanners and not it's update notifiers.
