What should we expect for 3.6.11?
Hey, I know that 3.6.10 has only been recently released but I was just curious on what will be the next milestone... :)

1. Will there be 3.6.11 or 3.7?

2. Is it just a matter of creating HTL models or?

3. Has the plan been laid out, ie similar to the MediaAsset status thread?

It's been laid out in a thread somewhere, I think in the SCP board. I know there's a 3.6.11, not sure if it goes to 3.6.12 or 3.7 next tho.

I was talking about the MVPs...

ok... this confusion brings about the following questions
 :confused:

1. What is the relation of mediavps progress benchmarking compared to the exe?
3.6.10 mvps are official, when the 3.6.10 exe is still WIP

2. There are quite a no. of WIP models, the basilk, the hippocrates, the argo etc
Say they are finished... Will the FSU use a system like the SCP with nightly builds or will fans have to wait until 3.6.11 beta is out to see them in action?

3. And will the FSU team wait for the 3.6.11 build is out before issuing 3.6.11 mvps?

4. Did FSU plan set a possible date to launch 3.6.11 mvps?

5. Will there be a huge change between 3.6.11 and 3.6.10 as there was with 3.6.9 due to the introduction of normal maps?

Hey, this doesn't mean that I expect 3.6.11 next week ;) I am just wondering what lies ahead and what cool features to dream about :)

If you mean testing, the current plan I think is to wait for 3.6.10 to be finalised, then test the patch against it to ensure everything's working and fix any issues that arise, and then to release it 'officially'.

Nothing remotely as regular as nightly builds, but I think unofficial addon releases would be good to keep people up to date and help us hunt down those bugs our testing won't find (like the shivan beam problem). No promises, but we'll see. ;)

The day before the day after we release and after the last day we don't release it?

Probably not as big unless some super shiny new FSO tech comes into play by then that the MVPs can take advantage of.

Actually we changed sooo much between the betas and the finals that whatever it was that was supposedly finished months before was probably overhauled at least once in that time. ;)

Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, I guess a sort of testing mediavps should be available, at the discretion of the fans. The majority are happy to risk having some minor bugs but then enjoy better graphics or something of the sort. Plus they can provide valuable input on the testing side.

Eg. like the mediaasset list, add a column, ready but not in mvps. and a download link. People can download and test without and provide input.

Are you using MV_Advanced (or MV_Complete, because it contains MV_Advanced anyway)?

If so, move it right out of the FS directory (well if you're using MV_Complete then you'd need to get rid of it and download all the other MVPs except MV_Advanced) and try again. The 'standard' (ie, non-advanced) MVP set should perform far far better for midrange machines with relatively little visual difference between them. The aim there was to provide a more uniformly balanced set of data, where the texture scales and use of animation better reflects that graphic's usage in-game. :)

Animated glowmaps are in Advanced/Complete, but it's up to you to determine whether they're worth the performance hit. SOMEDAY we'll get them done procedurally a la Quake 3 but for now that's what we got.
