  • A one hit wonder, you still want to touch this.
It's interesting stuff. I still have a difficult time quitting smoking, but i at least found an alternative that actually made me satisfied enough that i didn't request cigs. This was camel snus. My friend got it one day for the sheer fact that it was cheap and that was it. It doesn't need to be refrigerated, comes in pouches, and is spitless.

I tried out a pouch after i did lots of research on the stuff, and well, there's no smoke involved. I got my nicotine in a rather much less volatile way. Reminds me of how chai spice black tea tastes. The nicotine rush sticks with me for about an hour, after that i didn't smoke at all yesterday.

My research lead me to many conclusions about this stuff. This is meant to be the swedish style of chewing tobacco in america. Camel is a swedish company anyway, but as to whether camel products are american or not is up for date based on their distributors in america. Swedish snus is of higher quality and prepared better than american equivalents like skoal or copenhagen. Camel snus is still in the middle of being trial tested in random parts of america since 2008. Many have claimed that this is being marketed directly to children (these have also been the same people who assume that because its also called chew users literally chew tobacco). It's obvious something else is going on especially with the trial testing. Camel and other brands are currently competing in america for the spitless snus arena. Camel for example has been experimenting by providing different flavors at different times in different locations, to find out which ones customers like the best and will buy.

Then again, camel and so on has had cryptic advertisements like "spitless snus, use it in class, use it in a car, use it in a plane" (i'm sure the using it in class part may enthuse some highschoolers to get a hold of the stuff). I don't really care that this or other tobacco companies may or may not have child advertisement campaigns. For me, this'll keep me from putting bull**** in my lungs and regain precious lung capacity. I mainly need to get out the habit of smoking period.

It's really sort of evil, but from my perspective i had a blast. I was always smoking with friends having a jolly good time (this makes not smoking really hard). So far i just toss in a pouch around them, and i'm good. Better taste especially too. I have a feeling i'll be able to quit chew. I just literally need to get myself out of the fun habits associated with the actions of smoking (i'm split on smoking for being social and for nicotine). If i can't quit chew, then there's better safer stuff out there anyway. One interesting thing was tobaccoless chew. Just pouches of pretty much what the contents of a certain kind of teabag would have except enriched with nicotine.

Doesn't have to be just high school class either, it can very well be college too. Hell, I know at least half a dozen people I work with who dip on the job and can get away with it.

I would recommend dipping only to help you quit nicotine altogether or if you do it sparingly. Doing too much of it can lead to effects just as bad as smoking. Believe me, I've seen it.

Doesn't chew just give you mouth cancer instead of lung cancer?

My dad used to fall asleep with that stuff in his mouth. It was disgusting. XP

Basically...
In all four military bases I've been in so far I've seen at least three people with torn up mouths because of surgical procedures where smokeless products were the cause.

This is why i did some very thorough research. It's good to go for a dip that has the lowest amount of carcinogens which is commonly just the swedish variants. It's also good not to swallow your spit either way even if it is spitless.

It depends on which kind of dip you got that'll make you have mouth cancer or so on. Preferably anything tobacco based with low carcinogens or just use a chew that's not tobacco based at all. This is only going to be a temporary thing. I'll probably stop after the tin runs out which looks like it'll take a week. I've also been testing myself with temptation. I've been hanging out with my friends with a pouch in my mouth while they smoke, and i was just all good.

Will i relapse in the future and go back to smoking? I have no real way of knowing.

I'd rather go for nicotine patches, but those along with nicotine gum are very expensive.

Anything tobacco based is a disgusting habit. At least now my clothes smell fine.

I don't understand why, in this day and age anyone even starts. People know it's a ****ty idea and they do it anyway.

In Miami at least, the knowledge that tobacco = bad isn't as widespread. I have a few friends that smoke "socially", and they're repulsive to me.

I wouldn't give a nicotine high away for anything.

Cancers of the mouth and throat are much worse in many respects than lung cancer.

Quit the habit.  It'll save you as much as 1-3 thousand dollars a year, and your life.

I like the smell of tobacco and the feeling of burn in my lungs. ^^ Quitting wouldn't save me any money, though. The last pack of cigarettes I got was in October, and I still have almost half of them.

Nobody but Turambar wants to keep me cancer-free.

Two packs a day. Quit 11+ years ago.

You have to want to quit.

My brother decided to try dip, I think it took all of 18 months for him to get mouth cancer. YMMV.

I'm quitting after Uni, my fathers heart attack was caused almost solely by his 40-year, 20-A-Day smoking habit, his father died of a heart attack, and was a smoker, and now I have to go have tests to see if I have hereditary heart disease, so the smoking has gotta go.

Well common sense usually takes a back seat to whatever your friends are doing, it's amazing what you'll find yourself doing in order to "Fit in".
