I didn't mean that things like patches and nicotine gum don't help. To say that would be stupid as they clearly do, and studies show that cold turkey plus patches or gum is the most effective method of quitting.

If it's cold turkey "with patches" then it isn't cold turkey

Patches are no more successful at helping people quit than willpower, I did research on this once, and the Nicorette studies contained only results from 6 weeks after the people had quit, and compared them with 2-year statistics for willpower. When the Nicorette quitters were examined at the 2 year stage, there was no difference in the percentages.

Yeah, willpower is the most important thing. I'm just saying not doing it cold turkey makes withdrawal less suckage.

I didn't pick up smoking until i was 18. I didn't start drinking until i was 22. I didn't start doing these things until i wanted to. You guys are just getting younger and younger for when you started.

Some people can quit totally going cold turkey with no other help period. But, this is rare. For now, something else giving me nicotine has really gotten me out of a much worse habit. My goal is to continue at least a week with these pouches. The crappy thing is that i'm raedy to throw these out. Camel made their new snus pouches with hardly any nicotine. I'm almost sure i've been plecibo'd the first day i tried this. Almost no nicotine in these = my eyes look back on smoking.

I'll probably buy the swedish kind if they sell it here. Getting something that provides good nicotine first. These camel snus things would be great for people looking to stop dipping.

No brain zaps. But I couldn't think, and the shaking and twitching was actually kind difficult to deal with.

I'll just let Iamzack think up some witty response. I thought about doing it myself but I'm too lazy. Anyone prescribing this stuff for premature ejaculations and insomnia should be shot, though.

What stuff? SSRIs? I got prescribed Trazodone for insomnia. Didn't work. Not even a little. I don't have problems with premature ejaculation, though.

Well i switched chews and still going smoke free. I switched chews because the camel snus variant has like almost no nicotine which wont help in my self weening.

Some people can go pure cold turkey, and others can't. We're all different human beings so we use our will power differently. Some people use will power with pure cold turkey. I found that this doesn't work for me. So i used my will power with a different method that i am capable of. Either way, everyone needs to want to quit never the less. If you don't want to quit and you end up quitting, then there must have been some situational variations going on. There was one time i quit when i didn't want too. Christmas of 07 i ended up quitting for 3 weeks because it's must that my parents not see me smoking. I got back to smoking when i was back at campus immediately putting me back into normal campus habits. If i quit, i need to quit at college and not home.
