I don't really see the point of posting something that anyone could whip up in two minutes.

/clicks full_nebula

/places six maras and sets wave number

/adds an event that says "good job!" after 100 kills

The arms race is mine.

When I saw the title I expected something more than just 'Kill X Maras'.
I expected something that would actually tell a new player more about tricks of fighting in a nebula theater, something that has had thought put into it.
I mean, at the very least I expected something like the Gauntlet missions where what you face actually changes as you progress (eventually climaxing at singlehandedly taking down a Destroyer).

Well, it is james777, so it technically is my mistake from expecting anything more than this I guess...

The lesson: Plan Your Missions.
There were oh, so many ways to have made this something worth playing, too bad you didn't try.

Even when I was a n00b FRED-er I could've whipped up something at least HALF-decent. Have you even PLAYED a user-made mission/campaign?

Look, the typical n00b mistake is to overwhelm the mission with fighters so that only someone like FUBAR can complete it because you think you're trying to impress everyone else. That isn't what this business is about, talk to Ransom or Blaise, THEY know how to FRED. This isn't FRED-ing, I could teach my 4 year old cocker spaniel to sticky tape his paws to the mouse and slap it down on the desk six times. Please man, read the wiki. Nebula Combat Training....urgggh!

Okay, you've got the nebula and the combat :yes: But the training man, where's that?

If you were gonna' do this, you could refit the "Quick Combat" Option from the CFS series for Freespace by making a mission pack for the MVPs in which the player could opt to take on random waves of fighters with/without a wing, destroyers, bombers, something like that. But this.....what is this man? Is this even a mission?

I WANT to be supportive of you, but you haven't even made an effort here!

After playing this mission, I now can defeat 1000 Maras in a nebula, my skills are now complete.

*Pilot enjoys not seeing the 10 000 waves that don't exist anyway.

Oh I didn't actually kill them all.

I fought a few, tried to call in backup. Noticed there wasn't any and left.

Mission accomplished. Training complete.

Y'all are jumping all over this James dude and freaking out when all he ever did was make what he said  he would. Have any of you A) finished his mission? or B) *actually* made anything better? If so, great, post it, and keep *****ing. If not, hush and go back to playing in the corner.

I for one, am stuck on Wave 665. Is there any way to disable the Mara's forward primary cannons faster than normal?

I HAVE and am DOING so right now (in regards to point B.....I don't think I'll even try with the actual mission)

I'm not saying I'm on the same level as Darius or Ransom or Blaise or a FRED-er like that but at least I can do something half decent with FRED

That isn't perfect but it's *slightly* more sophisticated than six Maras spawning over and over.

He's fulfilled two-thirds of that :yes:

There's no training. I've gotten over James, but I was overdue for a flame :P

maybe someone else can take that upgraded mission and add a little something, we could have a nice mission at the end.
