Yeah, there's no question that I'm going to, I was just hit with the absurdity of it.

I'm actually surprised it says 17 - I've heard all my life it's 18 here, but apparently it's kinda of a jumbled mess of laws regarding that. Adult stores only let you go in at 18

That's the law for you

I think they should do what pietraz basically said and get with some reliable teenage therapist/shrink and change the law

Re: How screwed up are our rules. . .
The problem with the law is that it barely reflects reality.

For example, do you know, that there is a law which forbids DYING (as in ceasing to live, not putting some dye on your hair) in the Houses of Parliament in the UK?

That's only the top of an iceberg...

The problem with the sex law (let's call it that way) is that the legislation can't keep up with the social changes. Not to mention there surely is some puritan lobby to be found... No matter where you live. A bunch of spinsters, who never had sex will try to ban it as much as possible. Like a dog in the manger... Won't eat and won't let to eat. Welcome to reality...

It's not even banning sex at that point. I highly doubt there's anyone out there who's never masturbated, it's hard for me to comprehend anyone fully opposed to it before the age of 18  :doubt:

Make your own device? Some rules are really stupid, such as a law that forbids dying. If you get caught trying to suicide, what are they going to do? Put you in jail? To some people that could be considered torture. Then again, unless they sedate you or put you in a padded cell with no projections, holes, loose objects, etc. I don't see how they aim to prevent suicide with a rule like that.

It's not a rule about suicide. It's about death coming when you're in the metioned building. For example you've got a heart attack in the Houses of Parliament. If you die there, you've broken the law. The point is, you're dead, so how are they going to punish you now? The absurdity of law...

Enough said, that's offtop.

She's 17 and you are 19 right?... well at your age I wouldn't be thinking about buying the dildo or not... I would be thinking whether she's hitting on me or not.

have you concider that possibility?.. go ask her what she wants because you know... things like that only happen one time, and if you don't take the chance it might not happen again (at least not with the same person).

as for what is being debated about laws against sexual content for children, well I'm guessing no law is gonna stop a child that wants to get it's hand on that kind of thing and as we can see.. there's always someone that can help for whatever reason.

According to the Wiki, the of consent in Colorado is in fact 17. So Mars is in the clear.

Huh. Oral sex was legalized in Canada in '69.

In North Carolina, you can start sleeping around at 16, but you aren't even allowed into a sex shop until you are 18.

Priorities, eh?

Oh, and our teachers and counselors at school aren't allowed to tell us about condoms.

Yeah, you'd think adults would tell them about condoms if they're having legalized sex at 16.  This whole thing is looking more and more ****ed up.

That's even worse than I thought...

Lucky in Australia - they have "sex ed" programs for schools, the earliest being year 9 as far as I can remember, although sometimes that isn't early enough.

What do you expect from a state that actively teaches abstinence-only sex ed.?

Adjusted

Perhaps its because I live in godless pinko commie New England but our sex ed policy was not abstinence only.  The Decisions class was pretty cheesy but it certainly was informative and not driven off some archaic scare tactics.

@Enigmatic

That's right, and it's a helluva lot better than abstinence only programs. They don't "Force" anything upon you

Perspective check; you're talking to a board of computer nerds. I highly doubt you'll find anyone to disagree with you on masturbation.

Well, do you actually know anyone who disagrees with it?

I read some survey a while ago and something like 100% of Teenagers at age 17 in the survey had seen pr0n once, and this was in Sydney if I recall

Re: How screwed up are our rules. . .
My health (drugs, exercise, and sex-ed in one class) once said that the only bad thing that could possibly happen to a guy for masturbating is a slightly sore... y'know.

I guess my school is weird- a different teacher said that the real way to know you're ready for sex is if you can walk into a store, and get the nerve to buy your own condoms.

OBJECTION!!

I don't consider myself a nerd... I just play for fun. And, frankly, I think it's safe to say that there are many, many more who are just here for the fun of game :P

As for if anybody hadn't masturbated; I am 100% sure that some paranoid puritan freaks didn't...
