Re: How screwed up are our rules. . .
Lucky in Australia - they have "sex ed" programs for schools, the earliest being year 9 as far as I can remember, although sometimes that isn't early enough.
Year 5 here in Canada. I like our school system up here, I haven't witnessed any religious indoctrination here, it's very liberal.
I had forgotten about that.  Grade 5 they started...and then again in Grade 7 or 8.  Again in Grade 9.  Most of the group were pretty silly/awkward about the whole thing during each of the stages but ultimately it worked I think.
It's actually all the way through until 9th grade now, with regular classes starting in 7th.

I've had it since grade 4. Now THAT was awkward :D

Now everyone just cracks questionable jokes and gets on with it.

I didn't count that, cause it's more about the pregnancy side rather than the sex.

Well, it's still sex ed. You can't have a natural pregnancy without sex.

Oh, and for that other guy. Fapping doesn't make you a nerd. Linking internet memes makes you a nerd.

PS: congrats on your gf bro, let us know how her boobies feel.
That "other guy" has a name, actually. Or nick, if you prefer. Whatever.

Listen, I am not gonna argue with you, cause I disdain flaming and arguments such as those. Even though you tried to insult me. Or rather my GF to be precise... Hope you feel better.

Oh, and yeah, they do feel good, bro, take my word for it.

I find this person hilarious. He seems very attached to his nickname, is insulted when not referred to by name, and continues to insist that he is not a nerd using all the wrong examples. I have news for Mr. Cool here - Nobody cares.

Anyhow, sane sex education summed up:  Use condoms.  In the case of condom failure, use contraceptives.  Don't do somebody unless you trust that person.

Yet, as simple as this is, schools still mess it up.

As did you.

Safe sex:
-Both parties need to verbally consent.
-Know your partner's sexual history.  Trust has little to do with it, because even someone you trust may omit something.  ASK.
-Use two forms of birth control to prevent pregnancy (condom is one, but you need another).
-Apply condoms PROPERLY to prevent STI/STDs***

***This is the big one.  Most young men and women think you just shove it on, but there is an actual method to proper condom application that isn't taught in most schools.

Most of that stuff is part of my original summary.  Consent and history falls under trust, whereas the birth control and condom usage are part of the... condom and contraceptives part of the summary.

Yes. We had some in primary school, as well. In year 9, we had to pick at least two PE or Health lessons in the year if we had done no other ones already, so I did Health in first semester in that year.

I still remember that sex and pregnancy documentary we watched where they had all the cameras in the body - I averted my eyes when they showed them having sex (I think that's what it was, and if I recall correctly, it was inside) and when the woman was giving birth.

Neither do I, so what's the deal? I'm new at this forum and I don't know you people yet. As I see it, it's just one big misunderstanding. So please, cease fire...
If I'm a nerd to you - so be it. I can live with it.

I don't think this person realizes that I'm going to refer to him in 3rd person for the rest of the year :P

Topic? Oh, yeah, sex stuff.

Abstinence-only is kinda dangerous to gay kids especially, as far as STDs go. They spread more rapidly among gays (especially guys) because of the idea "well, we can't get pregnant, so I guess we don't need condoms!"

All that retarded bull**** about how the AIDS virus will go through condoms... *sigh*
WE ARE HARD LIGHT PRODUCTIONS. YOU WILL LOWER YOUR FIREWALLS AND SURRENDER YOUR KEYBOARDS. WE WILL ADD YOUR INTELLECTUAL AND VERNACULAR DISTINCTIVENESS TO OUR OWN. YOUR FORUMS WILL ADAPT TO SERVICE US. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.

Re: How screwed up are our rules. . .
Heard that crap too. "No matter if you use condoms, AIDS is going to get to you anyway". That's exactly why we need sex-ed being taught at schools. Otherwise, other myths about AIDS are going to spread even wider. "Don't sit next to them, don't breathe the same air" blah blah blah, all that stuff. Or labeling them as some lepers. "Touch them and bang, you're it". Appalling...

Re: How screwed up are our rules. . .
tl;dr the other pages

Sex-ed is already being taught...

We/You need PROPER sex-ed

Abstinence only isn't going around here which is a good thing, but the thing is I feel schools, or teachers need to take into account their class when they present their lessons and adjust accordingly. iamzack's "derro" class obviously isn't going to benefit from abstinence only, so

- Curriculum Change
- Teacher takes into account students
- Students get taught about STI's without shock/scare therapy, students discuss with each other and are taught REAL ways to avoid being pressured into sex and the "Cause and Effect" of sex

Missed the "proper" word, true :P

But then again, it shouldn't be called sex-ed if it's not proper, right?

abstinence-only is NOT sex-ed. it is antisex-ed.
