Really? I heard RE was actually kind of atmospheric and moody (a bit like what people have described Max Payne as here)... I'll have to try it myself. What's the gameplay style like?

Thats ported from PS. Rendered backgrounds, 3rd person view, graphics suck plain until RE3. Much like an adventure game, only with zombies, and a lot of places that scare the hell outta you.

Blood and blood 2 are the definition of mindless fun slave zero and unreal are god though

btw, i can get shogo running at 1600 x 1200 with no probs at all on a 633 celeron with a kryo (not kryo 2!!)

You mean a Kyro.

That's pretty impressive.

Shogo has a really nice engine, IMHO - old as it is. Go Lithtech.

Unreal has an awesome singleplayer campaign in my opinion, being slightly edged out only by DX and MOHAA.

When a horde of 30 or so of those pig guys suddenly rush at you, some enemy dude (usually that guy who spawns heads) hits them accidentally and the pigs then start eating him and his heads up, I can't help but burst out laughing.

Bah, the first Unreal, dunno, I didn't think it was fun, there was no feeling, nothing. Sure it was pretty ( with all that MMX fluff back then, it'd better ), but it was... no
Plus I couldn't finish the damn solo part, I staid stuck in a stupid crashed ship with acid pools, couldn't find the switch to open the door. great way to quit playing a game
