The only time it ever locks up or crashes is when I loose connect to my file server where my profile is stored.

A lot of memory leaks can come from extensions as well, so be wary of those. I don't care since I have 4GB of ram, so yeah.

Firefox may be a memory hog, but I really can't get along without AdBlock Plus anymore. Once again I stress that I only use it for script control and for blocking terribly annoying ads (those that blink and run across the screen jumping). HLP is on the whitelist.

And it feels so natural to use. I concider IE and Opera to be rather clumsy.

I agree... mozilla has some troubles, seems like the older plug-ins are making my mozilla a resource blackhole.

I feel more content with Chrome now.. it's quite fast and convenient.

180MB at the moment, but RAM usage has zero meaning to me. At the moment, Vista64's using about 2GB of RAM. The nice thing though is that I have 6GB total--so everything is very fast. I love SuperFetch. Other than being 64-bit compatible, I think SuperFetch is the #1 best feature in Vista.

My firefox is only at 60 megs right now, but I don't have very many windows open.

Had it running for 6 1/2 hours now and it dropped to 84 meg.

77 MB here.

Oh... You know, removing Internet Explorer from windows 98 actually made windows 98 go much faster, I think the same thing goes for WinXP. IE is embedded in the system, and actually already has a memory footprint before it is fired up...

One thing I can't stand either with FF 3 or with chrome is what they did to the navigation bar. I just don't like how it is now, I prefer how it used to be. So I'm still using FF 2.xx

FF/Opera/IE on rotation based on the website being surfed. And FF really lags on me too but that's usually because of the extensions.

Most people I know consider that overkill but eventually they get my point...

I would've jumped on IE8 if not for the buzz about it consuming way more resources than IE7 or something. No idea, just random hearsay on random news on the 'Net.

Is Chrome any good? (but with all that usage tracking stuff I'll probably just overlook it...)

Probably. I use a bare-bones FF myself, and never seen it to exceed 100MB by much.

I don't use too many add-ons, but it rarely gets above 100 for me. Firefox is about 70mb right now (Windows Explorer is using 146mb). It doesn't run slowly for me, and I can bring it to Linux with me.
