Keeping the Balance
I'm not sure what's wrong here. I start the mission, rip off all the cap beams from the Ravana and the Demon, and let my capships shoot them full of holes with beams. They die, yay.

At this point, 3 more shivan destroyers jump in, and my mission ends in a fail debriefing that says "no debriefing".

What's going on/how do I fix this?

Yeah.

I must have let a cap ship die somehow. I managed to beat that mission on very easy and cheating with super lasers on the second try (you can't kill both destroyers at the beginning too quickly or it breaks the mission) out of frustration.

Now I have a bigger problem. Mission 14:

Edit: Nm. Went into the mission file and deleted Ulysses, Artemis BH, and Medusa from the load-out. It now works. >.>

Edit2: I'm wondering whether it's something else that's breaking my game's usage of the Ulysses, Artemis, and Medusa. I needed to edit mission files for 14, and 17 through 20.

Yes.

Everything is playable as long as you delete the Uly, Artemis DH, and Medusa from the loadout of any mission that has them.

Are they in their own folder, and not in your main FS2 directory? Because, while the Ulysses (and Medusa, I think) may not be part of BP, the Artemis is...

That's what I'm thinking. Select the 3.6.10RC2 debug build in the launcher, run it until the main hall, and then post /data/fs2_open.log.

And the Artemis works. It's the Artemis DH that doesn't work.

Well, um, that's very peculiar, because the Artemis DH, Ulysses, and Medusa aren't in Blue Planet. They've been removed from the tables. Why would the game be looking for them in the loadout for these missions?

Might be why they don't work!

It looks like you're using a 3.6.11 build (or does that pop up on recent 3.6.10 debugs?) Could that have something to do with it...?

I've never seen this problem before.

I know what's happening.

Mission 14 is a scramble mission, which means I probably didn't tinker with the player loadout the first time I made the mission. At that stage those ships were in the tables and so the mission would have been loading them by default. The ships got deleted from the table, but the mission didn't get changed to reflect this. I'll put an updated version of the mission in.

Sounds like you're using a debug 3.6.10 build, since the retail one wouldn't come up with an error message for that.

I thought I needed to use my debug build to get a spew, am I not correct?

I usually play on my regular build, which gave me the first error of "Invalid entry GTF Ulysses, dump call stack w/e"


Oh, and Darius, make sure you also fix missions 17->20 as well. They also don't work, but will if you delete the invalid ships from loadout.

You're correct, debug is good for spew generation.

This problem is, if I am not mistaken, a consequence of the move to a shared set of tables between Blue Planet and War in Heaven - a lot of unused ships were pulled from the old AoA tables in order to make room for the new stuff.

You've got LightSpeedFS2 in /mediavps, which includes FS2 missions, and aren't needed with the MVPs 3.6.10. Delete that file. It may help.

You've got LightSpeedFS2 in /mediavps, which includes FS2 missions, and aren't needed with the MVPs 3.6.10. Delete that file. It may help.
Once again, they indeed are not needed with the 3.6.10 MediaVPs, but since that .vp contains only mission files that override the retail FS2 campaign missions, there is absolutely no way that it would affect Blue Planet.

Why? My game plays fine.

Again, the only thing that caused trouble for me was the invalid ships in load out. Otherwise, I was perfectly able to marathon the game in a few hours.
