"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

I think it's fair. I mean, look at it! Think of how it cool it would be to have that in your kit... ;7

I read some of the negative reviews and one stood out as a good point - no LCD on the player itself! As a cyclist it may well be great (so small! ah!) but if the LCD gets totalled for whatever reason you have to buy an exact replacement - no cheap £10 phones from a local hardware... so an accident could cost a lot, which is enough to put me off that kinda thing...

I agree. That said, I wouldn't actually buy this; I never buy anything too expensive, because I end up never using it. (Aaaahh!!! It got a scratch!!) I prefer getting trashy stuff and be able to use them with no qualms of damaging them... but that's just me.

LOL!

I liked that thing, but I don't think I'd buy it. I never really used a walkman, discman or any similar, so I don't think I'd use this one. What I need is a good MP3/CD player for my car...

I'm usually home all day, so my computer functions as a CD/MP3 player for me. :D

It's true! That's why I use a regular old walkman - cassette tapes and all. They're really hardy. ;)

I know, those are the best. The only one I ever used was my old Dorito - the small triangular Moving Sound from Philips... it was just a radio.

What do you mean? Since the LCD is on a replaceable (in theory - I don't know if they sell replacement remotes) remote, if it gets broken, buy a new remote. If the LCD (which we can all agree is the part that gets broken the most) was integral to the player, you're screwed if it goes.

Anyways, I have a $100 MP3 discman, which I don't use at home or around town. It's good for army reserves, vacations, etc. But part of the reason I don't use it at home/town is that it's a hassle to control it when it's inside my bag, a problem which would be fixed by the remote.

I see people walking around in school with MDs and CD players, with all these wires going everywhere, headphones hanging off, and all sorts of odd-looking appendages. It's funny; sometimes the wires catch on something and then they're in trouble. :D

Well, I dont know. I hope (due to how thin it is) it doesnt break easily.

I had my CD player for about 7 years now and I must of dropped it more times than I can remember and it still works like new.
I finally destoryed the Shivan armada and all I got was this lousy T shirt.

Its cute, but I'd not have one.

Whereas I really like the slimness of the box and the external remote, it just lacks for storage. 650mb per CD, non writable and I have to switch them regularly, which means I have to store them.

I'll stick with my 6gig Archos Jukebox600. It's about the same size as my old old audiotape player, runs off four rechargeable AA batteries (full charge lasts two days assuming I'm writing to it, three or four days without writing to it), and appears as a 6gig hard drive to windows. Even better, if I should wish to extend its capacity, I can swap out the 6gig hard drive for a 40gig one. The sound quality is pretty damn good.

Also, it runs about $225 in stores.
[I am not really here. This post is entirely a figment of your imagination.]
