It sucks, and it was made in photoshop, but it was a good seven minute effort.

http://shadowmoses.bravepages.com/First.jpg

Just thought I'd show here, mostly to declare that I *am* interested in rendering, and want to know just what I'll need (besides TS, I *will* not use that piece of garbage!) to do the job.

Note: copy and paste the link.  Damn these free website hots that don't allow remote linking!

Heh - link worked for me. :D

As for the render, I like it, actually. Especially the blurry effect on the F22 - makes it look more realistic. :)

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Lens flares are evil and have no place in 3d modelling. Being that lensflares are caused by minute imperfections in the lens of real world cameras, there is no reason to include them in a 3d render. Besides that, every 2bit hack on the planet overuses lensflares to distract from their lack of modelling/rendering/lighting talent.

Of course, I dont' really believe that. I like good lensflares, but I don't use them to cover my lack of talent. I REVEL in my lack of modelling/rendering/lighting talent. :D
[I am not really here. This post is entirely a figment of your imagination.]

Well, as I said, I suck.  :D  Thanks for the feedback, and as for the process, carl hit the nail on the head.  Magic Wand is indeed very messy.  Lasso is far eaiser IMO.  Anywho, that's not the point.  I'd like to know what programs to get to start pumping out renders like the Great Setekh!  ( Hey, I spelled it right I think! )

yeah same here (except that I am a PSP guy); the magic wand does not work too well for me when precision is required. I actually sometimes edit individual pixel colors to get an image perfect. :D

Good render. I made a render simmular to that using an Xwing. But if you going to make renders like the ones you see here, it may be impossible to  make them from Photoshop though.

Does anybody know where the burn tool is? Its not in the toolbar.... Seriously, I never used it.
I finally destoryed the Shivan armada and all I got was this lousy T shirt.

Sorry; moment of temporary insanity. :o

For a first render, I'm kind of impressed. The render quality is something you rarely see in first attempts, and as Sandwich said, the blur is looking good - sometimes things are just way too clear to be realistic in renders. Judicious use of blurs will see you very far in rendering. ;)

And, you get bonus marks for using the F22 - I love ATFs. :D

*nods*  Yeah, I thought the blur would make the Raptor look much better.  I have an alternate version with a Harrier saved on a disc at school (our comp teacher uses PS, and has kindly installed it on each of our computers.  Since I'm already finished with my assignment, I get to screw around with it!) so I'll see about getting that up (in my opinion, it came out far better than the Raptor) later today.  Now..if I can only get my hands on 3DS MAX...I'll be set...though if there any better rendering proggies out there, let me know. I'm also curious about PSP...where would I find that?

Oh, and I love the Raptor too.  :D
