Well its rotating through my folder of WWI aviation, so nothing but an engine, canvas, wood, wire and no small amount of guts.

That's bound to have some (as my grandfather might say) "interesting" failure modes.

Re: More Wallpapery goodness
World War 1 had many exotic designs, probably more so than the second war out of the fact that they just didnt have the engine power to weight ratio to do much

There where quite a few "Pusher" types in WWI such as the FE2b and DH2.

The "Fee" is a particular favorite of mine ever since reading one Spring in Picardy:

and now for something new:

Kubuntu?

And I had the escalator photo on the left (in its original colours) as my laptop wallpaper earlier this year.

For some reason I read that as "Kerbal Ubuntu" now.

Your Conky's System -> Kernel indicator says Gentoo, so that's gonna be my guess :P Obviously with KDE on top. And, may I say, rather tastefully dressed

Okay I admit, I've been watching Stargate over the holidays. And hot dang, those ships...

I need to free up my desktop again...

A few months back, I also hooked up an old monitor to my MacBook. I use it for ... umm, monitoring ChatZilla while I play fullscreen games?

Yeah they dressed a bunch of F-302s to look like Leo2A4s once...

The ship is one of the Ancient ships from Atlantis.  I personally thought they looked a little bit to much like an industrial junk heap for a a nearly transcendent race such as the Ancients but hey that's me.

You know, one of the things that always got me was that the Stargate actually was large enough to move something like a Wiesel through, but the most we ever got was mortars and occasionally a MALP-with-a-50.

Re: More Wallpapery goodness
True that, but the gate was located in bottom of a missile silo. It would have taken quite significant changes in the silo to allow larger vehicles in and out without much hassle. The whole concept seemed to revolve around to prevent probable invaders from getting outside and protecting outside world from any sort of catastrophe. Stargate Command probably could have avoided many losses if they have had proper vehicle support when situation warranted it. Heh, it would have been way outside of a tv-series budget, but proper warfare between SG and Goa'uld would have been real nice to see.
