So I've been working on this bad boy for a bit now.  I'd like some feedback on improvements I can make and whether or not you guys can use it.
Currently this is v0.8, so there is plenty of room for improvement.

Could you please post a clay render of the untextured mesh?. The textures make it a bit hard to figure it out...

Those textures kind of... well, they need work. Are they the original [V] ones? If so, this ship needs to be UVed and retextured I reckon. Otherwise, there are a few spots that need to be smoothed IMO - pentagonal flippers (that's the two forward facing struts to the port and starboard) were probably not intentional, but a limitation of low poly modelling  - in fact, this is one of the few FS models where a (very) selective application of meshsmooth would actually produce some usable results. I'd also recommend a bit more detail in the bridge.

But yeah, untextured screenies are best for getting an idea of the model (well, the best short of the model itself)

I agree with the above comment.

It's still awesame though. I like all the Vasudany details all over it that actually make it look alien.

Hope these help:

The textures are the original [V] ones.  I'm a little averse to UVing this because I feel it would degrade the complex hull patterns that I feel were the hallmark of ships such as the Orion and the Typhon.  They wouldn't feel the same.  The bridge was on my list for things to hit next.  Keep telling me what needs upgrades, I'm not done yet.

Thanks for the feedback!

Well, IMO, UVMapping would probably give a better result to those hull patterns. Each bit could have a unique texture, instead of just a repeated tile map on every single one. Look at the Aten for example...

Wow, that's actually very nicely detailed, it's just that the texture tiles were completely killing it all. Definitely go the way of the UV map though - it'd be so worth it!

Suggestions:
- There are a lot of areas (especially the topside rear and the arms) that I think would look a lot better if fully curvy. The typhon really strikes me as being built of elegant flowing curved surfaces. Your nose prong things and the area just behind the arms are absolutely spot on and look brilliant for that very reason for example.

- The engine block section might look a lot cooler if more heavily greebled - especially with pipes on the underbelly in a way that more fully connects them with the rest of the hull. Again more like the area just behind the arms would be ideal. :)

- The belly prongs and rear 'rudder' fin things could also really really do with more detail, since they're some of the more defining attributes of the ship as a whole.

My only complaint it that the arms (and some other protrusions too) still look quite low poly.  Any chance they could be rounded out? :nervous:

EDIT: VA sorta beat me to it...

Awesome model - though the mapping above is bad, but maybe that is not your fault but a problem with MVP-typhon maps...

I only agree with you getting more detail on the rear part, and also please make a good looking bridge if possible ^^

Yeah, those textures are really killing all of the detail and smoothing you've put into this.  The base model looks cool; keep it up. :)

Untextured renders from now on, please!

Overall it looks really nice--there's plenty of new enhancements and details added to the model and they look extremely well done. The areas that need help are, of course, the ones you haven't started on yet, like the bridge, and the two lower fins and their connections.

Apart from that--topside, in the middle, about 25% down its length. Those L-shape panels are split just parallel with the center crease, and to me it just doesn't feel right. It looks like they were mirrored slightly off. Maybe you could 'flip' those greebles so all the smaller panels are clustered on the top, with the longer clusters on the sides?

Thanks everybody!

Alrighty, UV Mapping it is!  The pylons are definitely going to be rounded out and smoothed. And I'll aim at more curves, details and greebs in the back.

Finally, the Typhon will have appeal too! :D
Now we just have to wait for the Hattie to be finished too.

Its looking really good. Can you do something about the bridge? I've always hated it, maybe make it look like the bridge of the SDF-1 or something?

Wow... the model is very nice.
It NEEDS to be properly UV mapped though, so that ambient occlusion can be baked into the maps... look at the HTL Aten for an example why that is awesome.
