Speaking of DEM, would you mind updating the campaign with a mod.ini and an image on freespacemods.net, Goober? This is simple enough to do by oneself, yes, but it would be appreciated by the majority of the community I feel.

Oh I also really like that big mission in Inferno, you know the one. It's fakking hard but lots of fun and I really enjoyed the music.

Or even the main FS2 campaign, Bear Baiting. Not so much the Sathanas part. But attacking the Sathanas is always stressful for me at least and then finally the thing buggers off and Command is like "oh hey, don't get relaxed. We've got a Demon coming in now" and it's "whaaaaat? come on!".

Playing Judas, He Who Rides the Tiger, Universal Truth, Nobody Expects..., Nightmare Scenario, and Nemesis.

Raider Wars had a lot of hard missions, but Nobody Expects... and Nightmare Scenario might be the worst (of course you're supposed to lost Nightmare Scenario, but still).

Re: HOLY BACON! : Missions Which Blew Your Mind (Or Blew You Apart)
The one big complaint I have with Forced Entry is the Lilith warpin. That's being rebalanced. Other than that I think it's actually quite fair.

Fine GB, Darius must be a sadist who enjoys drinking the tears of frustrated gamers pulled over the edge.  He probably thinks such a plan will give him immortality or ultimate power or something like that.

Was I the only one who thought that the decision in forced entry to send in one ship at the time was a bit... illogical?
Why the one at the time tactic? Wouldn't it be a much better plan to just move the whole fleet in formation for maximum turret ownage and such and then send them one by one through the knossos as fast as possible?

Re: HOLY BACON! : Missions Which Blew Your Mind (Or Blew You Apart)
I'd say Forced Entry as a whole might take you for a surprise, but it's not neccessarily unreasonable... though it does need balancing if you're going to use a Lilith (Which is possibly the MOST UNBALANCED warship ever...). Unreasonable is the Aeos Affair...

I'll say Forced Entry is not unreasonable for the most part because you are made aware of fairly large amounts of heavy, high-power enemy hardware in the briefing. The problem then becomes choosing the right equipment to counter theirs...

The only problem (while also a boon to a degree) is the distances involved. The distance for you to cover makes the space feel massive, which is great, but the enemy does not encounter that problem so much: The Herc is too slow while the Myrm too under-armed. In my opinion, the Lilith situation would be a bit more fair if it was out of range of its target ship when it jumps in or if it was replaced bt something easier to attack... a Moloch would actually fit the bill in my opinion. If the corvette was still around, Temeraire would probably dispatch it with no problem.

However, the best mission in BP by far has to be Universal Truth. Electro-rock makes any mission better!  :D

That's basically how Universal Truth works. I should think that the ship-by-ship tactic in Forced Entry was employed so that each ship could be escorted in turn by the maximum number of fighters - thus preventing ships from being picked off by bombers while the fighters were scrambling all over.

The only problem (while also a boon to a degree) is the distances involved. The distance for you to cover makes the space feel massive, which is great, but the enemy does not encounter that problem so much: The Herc is too slow while the Myrm too under-armed. If the corvette was still around, Temeraire would probably dispatch it with no problem.

That's why wingman command is so important. For the Lilith, however, I agree; it's going to gain a bit of a delay before it starts using its main beam, I think, and we can use SEXPs to slow the beam fire rate.

I completely agree. Fantastic, fun BoE. Just got done playing it a couple times since I put the voice acting into it.  ;7

Herc too slow yes.  Myrm can fit three banks of trebs and six guns worth of balors.  It becomes a bomber owner by definition.

ANd a disarmer.  The Trebs will take the beam off that Lilith in 10 seconds flat.  It never got off a shot for me.  Then just c36 and it sits there without any teeth for the rest of the mission.

Unreasonable is the Aeos Affair...
I've seen you claim that before, but the only mission in it that gave me significant trouble, at least on Easy, was the very first, and even that became substantially easier when I decided to try flying a bomber.  It's perhaps less forgiving than most other campaigns, but accomplishing your objectives isn't massively difficult.

Oh, and while I'm posting, one mission which has given me fits many times before was the point in Derelict where you're trying to defend an Orion from Shivan bomber/destroyer attack in a nebular environment.  Being a perfectionist, I always attempt to save all twelve or so escape pods that it releases, but this becomes rather difficult when there are two separate Shivan wings jumping in at once.  Cue multiple restarts and much frustration on my part.

Re: HOLY BACON! : Missions Which Blew Your Mind (Or Blew You Apart)
I've "upgraded" to medium difficulty.  :D

That said, some campaigns which should have been a challenge (or maybe not, even...) before on easy are now a "whole 'nother animal" one difficulty higher. The first mission in Aeos affair is a bit tricky (and a little buggy... fail it and see the debrief... it just doesn't fit), but it's not deplorable. Deplorable is the mission where you're sent to protect the Praetor until the Hecate-class destroyer warps in. Spamming too many enemies into one place is miserable, uninteresting, and often unreasonable. For instance, sending in a FRIGGIN' LILITH at point-blank range!

If you want a real shock, play Transcend one difficulty higher than you're used to... that probably means "not on easy" for most players. You'll find an 8-on-1 dogfight is really hard to make it out of with the unruly combo of Herc 2, Subach, Prom R, and Hornets. Now, the Herc 2 is great and the said weapons aren't bad (except for the Prom R... and Hornets for anything that makes evasive maneuvers...), but those things together will leave you fuming. If it was real, dead.

If my rant shall go on, the Lilith as a whole is an unreasonable entity. Unreasonable for a capship can mean awesome as well, but seeing as a Lilith is NEVAR on your side, it's just plain unreasonable!  :P

Speaking of Transcend... The second-to-last mission. I think I had to play it twice before I beat it on medium, but that has to be one of the best final duals for FS out there! It's one heck of a dogfight, to say the least.

There is no reason anyone should survive an 8-on-1 dogfight on any reasonable difficulty without a good bit of retry and a little luck. It's nothing to sneeze at.

Forced Entry was brilliant. Even the first incarnation of it was brilliant. The only thing more satisfying in FreeSpace than completing Forced Entry is this:
