I beg to differ... ram currently costs about double the amount it did two months ago... :blah:

Well, last time I updated my list of uber-hardware-that-I-want-and-will-never-get (which I seriously have) RAM was really cheap so ha :p:ha:

Maybe prices have increased recently or something; when I got my computer slightly less than a year ago, 256MB DIMMs were priced at $50 or so on average, although you could find them for $40 if you looked around a bit.

You have to be careful here since there is a bug in the AMD 760MPX chipset that prevents the USB ports in the South Bridge from working. Most manufacturers supply you with a USB2.0 card to correct this but that eats a PCI slot and most 760MPX boards only have about 3 of the 32 bit variety and I've heard backwards compatibility is a grey area with the 64 bit variety. AFAIK that Asus board is affected. Boards such as the EpoX M762A appear to be free from the bug and have working USB and still maintain 2 PCI slots. Of course if you have no need for USB then this is a non-issue :)

As I said, I have  an ASUS P5A motherboard and I want to add a bit more RAM memory to it. Right now I have 128 MB RAM and would like to add about 256 more. Would that be possible? What type of RAM should I use?

Can anyone please (Lt Ash's voice) answer to this question?

AMD K6-2 300MHz
256 megs ram pc100
Voodoo 3 2000
soundblaster 128
2 gig HDD

Running win 95 and other than an ex harddisk I'm really happy with it

No, don't laugh!! It's stable, reasonably fast for what I need it to do and most importantly it's got all of my little speedups, tweaks and asthetic touches. If only my CDRW worked. I can't find CDRs that are compatible with it (it's a 2x speed burner, most new CDRs won't even get past the testing stage   ).

That board should take PC133 SDRAM DIMMs without any trouble.

Thanks!:)

Are you really sure that I can put in the 133 SDRAM into it or should I settle with the 100 SDRAM?
