Is this for Freespace? Or is it something else entirely. Cool I didn't know about this. Personally I wouldn't mind going this route as well, it's just that a mod like this would be such a massive undertaking that I wouldn't bother.
Yes, is a tactical space combat simulator, built on the FS2OpenOSE II game engine. The
OSS (Open Space Softworks) team are working on this project
(has nothing to do with TBP, TBP team or his/theirs materials)The FS2Open game engine was heavily modified, featuring:
-new physics model (also known as Newtonian Physics),
-new AI models of behavior,
-some new visual effects render,
-new navigation system,
-several simulation features,
-new HUD,
-new docking sequnces,
-new hyperspace environment (unbelievable!)
-new afterburner control,
-seperate control modes for ship (combat mode/NAV mode),
-new principle of targeting system functioning,
-updated principle of the "Warp in/out" effects (including new warp for Shadows);
-added "tachyon beam" between global beacons in the hyperspace
-new ships models (using normal mapping)
-much more!
